shane'o
I use hp disks i know they are not verbatim but i can not find verbatim disks at the best of times. i stay in south africa so your list of where to find these disks cant help me, hp disks have never given me a problem before it is only the last week that i have had trouble with burning games and five disks have not worked in a row are you positive it is the disks? the disks are hp DVD+R 8x. my drives firmware is fully up to date (this is what the drive update wizard said)
LIGHTNING UK!
The thread tells you what you can try, there's no point in me repeating it. There's no magic fix, you just have to go through the stages and troubleshoot it yourself.
shane'o
ok so i have done some testing and it isnt my drive or disks my friends pc burns these disks perfectly fine and it isnt my drive... when i check the disks it said that the layer break is not the same as what i set it to be in imgburn is their any way to fix this and even tho my images come back fine do you know of any other imaging software other than Schtrom360Xtractor just incase my abgx360 isnt working like it should? i dont understad i could backup disks till about a week and a half ago then one out of three would work and now none will work. ianymaty
Are you fancy making an experiment? Move your drive to your friends computer and repeat the burn in the same conditions (your burner, your media, his computer).
shane'o
i could try that just dont know if he will let me open his pc (think its still under garente) mabey i have settings wrong? because of both my pc and laptop give the same error but my friend burnt me 10 games with the same media in the last two days and it works perfectly. ianymaty
I wonder if your laptop drive is also a Samsung? Laptop drives are not so reliable anyway, regardless of brand. I 12:17:32 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: CMC MAG-D03-64) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) Have you tryed the other speeds? 2.4 isn't an option so try 6x or 8x. 4x was used already. Since you can't find Verbatim, at least, can you try with other brand of discs and MID/dye different from CMC that HP uses?
LIGHTNING UK!
Yeah but he doesn't have your drive... you do. Something about your drive/firmware/media combo just isn't playing nicely.
shane'o
i will try another brand of disk i have created a new image and this time it got half way through the verification and then gave an i/o error so i think it might be that the drive isnt reading the disk properly so it is not making a correct image. but it said the image is perfectly fine, here is a log from the last burn. ianymaty
It was a wild guess but you confirmed it. Could be a problem of Samsung drives/firmwares with CMC media. You said it's 8x rated media, why are you forcing it to burn 2.4x when this is not even an option? Give a try with 8x. And don't forget to try other media too. Don't rely on the fact that your computer is an HP and it should burn HP media.

shane'o
when i burn the disks at 8X and i check under the disk it isnt one solid colour the first layar is 95% to the end of the disk and the second layar is 20% to the end of the disk. iv tried 8X 4X 2.4X and now 6X. i could try with my other drive but it dosnt even begin to write before it says burning failed it gets to about 50% with other burning software but then dose the same thing. it is a sahara drive (DVDRW IDE 16X ATA)i dont think it is compatible with imgburn.
