ImgBurn refuses to burn at 2.4x

Hi guys, first post here,

I'm trying to burn a game to a dual layer disc. I was told to set the burn speed to 2.4x for the best results yet when I choose this option ImgBurn always gives me

W 21:29:29 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 3,324 KB/s (2.4x), Got: 5,540 KB/s (4x)

Now I know it isn't an issue with ImgBurn so it either the dvd writer or the media I'm using. Everyone says to use Verbatims so I ordered these Verbatim 43666 DVD+R, 8x, 8.5GB, Dual Layer, 10 Pack.

Now, could anyone tell me if these discs actually support burning at 2.4x or not? If the issue is with the media, could anyone reccommend anywhere to buy Dual Layer Verbatims in the UK as I've heard they are the best.

The writer I am using is an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7240S ATA Device (taken from device manager). I cannot seem to find anything on the net to say wether this drive supports 2.4x burning also... If the issue is with my drive could someone reccommend where to purchase the best writer for burning xbox 360 games in the UK.

It would be much appreciated if someone could help me with my problem.

EDIT: Another issue, not sure if anyone here can answer it though. I burned a copy of a xbox360 game which seemed to burn fine but when it came to verifying I got this error

W 22:00:23 Failed to Read Sector 1537824 - Reason: No Seek Complete

E 22:00:50 Failed to Read Sector 1537825 - Reason: No Seek Complete

E 22:00:50 Failed to Verify Sectors!

Now as you can see I retried several times but it still failed. I'm guessing an issue with the writer maybe?

Many thanks and a Happy New Year to all.

Theas are your available speeds:

I 21:55:20 Source Media Type: DVD+R DL (Book Type: DVD-ROM) (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x)

Try the other speeds, try a cleaning disc on the drive. I couldn't find a firmware update for the Optiarc.

Are you able to explain the meaning of the error?

E 22:00:50 Failed to Read Sector 1537825 - Reason: No Seek Complete

It means that the disc cannot be read by the drive for some reason or another. Dirty disc, firmware/disc conflict, drive laser dirty, etc. Do a google and you'll find a ton of posts relating to the problem, and a ton of solutions. Basically it's an I/O error and they most always deal with the drive/firmware/media combination.

Okay thanks for the help, I'll try your suggestions. On a side note, what is reccommended as the best writer to burn (not rip, already got a good drive for that) xbox360 games, preferably one that supports write speeds of 2.4x?
