I/O Error, Semaphore Timeout.

Hello everyone, I've looked around everywhere and tried a variety of things to fix this infamous error, but to no avail. I am using a LITE-ON USB Black 8X External Top Load DVD/CD Burner Model eTAU208-96 for my burning and it hasn't had problems burning DVDs in the past. It is still fully able to burn CDs and read them, so I don't see what's wrong here. My USB connection from the burner to my PC is strong and has no problems that I'm aware of, my drivers are in check, and the lens is clean. Also, I was using a lower writing speed instead of Maximum and the problem still appeared.

Hopefully someone can look at the log ( no " :chair: " necessary) and see what's wrong. Thanks!! I also have previous logs in which the same thing has happened if needed.

You'll have to copy those files to your internal HDD before burning, as your external drive that's timing out. Alternatively you could plug this external drive to another computer on your network, share the files and burn from the network share/assigned letter.

Using your help, I was able to burn a disc sucessfully since I uploaded it onto my drive.

But now, I received another error even though this disc is also on my hard drive. Here is the log:

Install service pack 1 for your Windows 7 using Windows Update (to try and avoid the USB update bug that SP1 has) and try again. Also both USB plugs are connected, right?

By the way, with DVD-R media you can enable the Test Mode option so that the disc isn't wasted with a failed burn.

Which chipset does your system have? If you don't know you can find out using SIW (Hardware -> Motherboard usually).

I am currently installing Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 64 bit.

Both of the usb plugs are connected properly and are recognized.

I am using an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU U9600 @ 1.6ghz.

Thanks for the advice about test mode and for your continued support through this problem!

I was thinking the same thing about the CMC's. If you got past the semaphore timeout error (Which many drives just won't work with ImgBurn because of their chipsets.) which you did, I'd dump the cheap CMC's and go with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs and see if the problem goes away.

I just got my package of 100 Verbatim DVD-R discs today and so far, everything I've tried to burn... TURNS TO GOLD. It works perfectly. I just ensure that the files are on my actual hard drive before I burn them and then I leave the burner alone for a while to do its job and BAM! ( a la Emeril) I hear Jungle Rainforest music instead of "OH no...."

I'll let you guys know if anything changes! Thanks for your help!
