Burning DVD freezes

Recommended Posts

I'm a long time ImgBurn user.

Recently, when burning DVDs (I hardly burn CDs nowadays) the process freezes (writing speed falls from say 8X to zero and nothing else happens even if one waits for minutes).

Buffers are full when this happens.

After freeze, ImgBurn won't close, drive door won't open, if one ends ImgBurn using the task manager Win 7 64 becomes unstable, only way out is through a hard reset of the PC.

Could this be related to a new batch of media (TYG02 locally rebranded) I've purchased? Defective LG GH20NS10 drive?

Thanks for your help.

I 00:09:47 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: TYG02) (Speeds: 4x, 8x)

I 00:09:47 Write Speed: 24x

W 00:09:47 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 33,240 KB/s (24x), Got: 11,079 KB/s (8x)

There's newer firmware for your drive EL01 here http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/GH20NS10/files.html

Why you'd want to burn at 24x if the drive can burn only 4x, 8x on that media?

Update ImgBurn to current version
