ImgBurn not correctly burning?

Hello

I've burned many Xbox360 games with this program and it works very well.

I've burned a game lately on a Verbatim disc and truncated and after about 5 minutes of playing it says unreadable everytime.

I've tried several other times to reburn using Memorex DVD-R DL's and that doesn't seem to help at all, I am calculating optimal instead of user specified. Do these errors have anything to do with it??

It seems some of the games I would verify, there would be massive amounts of errors and it would take more than half an hour verifying 1 sector every couple seconds when there is a couple hundred thousand. Most games I do burn though are perfect, just the game I burnt doesn't seem to read correctly.

By default, it errors out at the first problem during a verify. The whole point in a verify is to detect the presence of errors, not to see how many there are in total. When you hit 1 error (and perhaps retry it a few times), you should pretty much just call it a day with that disc and burn another copy. That is of course assuming your drive is working correctly and not just erroring out due to it being dirty or whatever.

My DVD burner works great for games, only the newer games are giving me troubles. Everytime I set it to verify for the new games I get all those errors during the verification process. So you're saying that maybe the disc or my burner is a problem? If so, I don't see how when it burns other games fine and I clean the disc before I burn onto it everytime. Do you think the because the game file is bigger than the disc it can't read it correctly because it isn't all there on the disc?

I'm saying you shouldn't ever get a errors or miscompares from a verify operation. If you do, something went wrong.

The drive doesn't know (or care) what you're burning so the whole 'new games' and 'old games' thing has nothing to do with anything - when it comes to verify errors anyway.

Yes, truncating your burns isn't reliable and of course any attempt to read data that doesn't actually exist will end in a failure.

If you're burning Xbox360 games like myself, I guess truncating is the best way to go.. It seems though that I don't always burn a perfect game copy, I burned 2 of the same game, 1 works 1 doesn't read at all.. Not sure. But, I'm glad I got these errors or warnings cleared up.

I understand truncating is bad. But, would you rather overburn a game to a disc?

My DVD burner burns games fine(even most truncated), just some of the ones I truncate seem to fail every now and then. I don't really think it's necessary to have to buy an iHas burner.. I know they're not really expensive, but to me it could be a waste of time since mine works just fine.

Btw, my drive is a TSSTCorp DVD+-RW TS-H653J.

Don't think of it as overburning with an ihas, it's a simple case of having 97% of the data available or 100%. It's pretty obvious which is better :)

Read any xbox related forum that deals with this stuff and they'll flat out tell you not to truncate now that other options are available. I have no interest in it myself but I still need to keep on top of things so I can at least pretend I know what I'm talking about ;)
