Malcolm
I've had Imgburn for one week and really like it. I have it working with DVD Shrink. My question is how do I get a faster write speed? The fastest I've seen is 1.9x with an average of 1.7x. The blank dvd's are 16x I did save the last log file if that helps - thanks in advance Malcolm Oh yes one other thing I paid 29 dollars with pay pal to some site to get the two programs only to see that they were free. Almost erased them because I was so mad. After I got them running I like them anyway.

blutach
Sorry to hear you were ripped off. If you can find the site that did this, let us know please. Chuck out the CMC Mags - they are awful. Try Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens. Update your firmware - you are miles behind - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1726 Regards
spinningwheel
Bh04You are two firmwares behind, check here. (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) I agree w/blu, your media is crap. I 16:23:16 Average Write Rate: 2,388 KB/s (1.7x) - Maximum Write Rate: 2,583 KB/s (1.9x) Corny is also correct, do the DMA thing and reset it. Then let us know how you made out. LIGHTNING UK!
Deleting the IDE controller and rebooting will fix your DMA problem. That'll then fix your speed issues too (as they're one in the same thing). It's pretty simple if you read + try it at the same time. To read it without doing it might make it seem difficult. Convert your HD to NTFS. It makes dealing with large files much easier. As noted above by the guys, CMC media is garbage. Taiyo Yuden are about the same price and are far superior. Even though the burn was apparently successful, you didn't verify the burn to check. Chances are your media would fail. If by some miracle the CMC media passed verification, sometime in the future (a day, a week, a month), CMC media will deteriorate and fail. It has been rubbish for years and it's doubtful that it will change anytime soon.
Malcolm
The question is how do I Convert your HD to NTFS? Where does one purchase the Taiyo Yuden brand? Best Buy - Circuite City? Thanks Malcolm

Shamus_McFartfinger
The question is how do I Convert your HD to NTFS? Open a command prompt and type: convert d: /fs:ntfs That's it. As always, make sure you backup the files on the drive first.
blutach
I strongly doubt that a cheapie like Circuit will have high end product like Yudens. BB might though. Regards
lfcrule1972
I just wanted to add my 2 cents to what the guys have already told you - those CMC MAG discs are awful, check out the media tests I did with the same dye below. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=654 Whilst the red in the graphs looks pretty it's not a good thing in terms of playback of your discs. If you are in the US you can get Taiyo Yuden from here, http://www.meritline.com/taiyo-yuden-dvd-media.html Personally I prefer the Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R discs as I find discs burnt at 16x do not have the same quality scores. Good luck

LIGHTNING UK!
That's what you've called your drive. If you type 'label' from that same command prompt window it should tell you what it is. i.e. label d: You should then see something like: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]>label d: Volume in drive D: has no label Volume Serial Number is 1234-5678 Volume label (32 characters, ENTER for none)? You can press CTRL+C to abort changing the label. Just remember what it says in the first line - you can see mine has no label. You need to enter that in the convert process. It's a kinda double check / fail safe prompt so you don't convert the wrong drive accidentally

LIGHTNING UK!
Yup that's fine. EDIT: hang on, only your D: is not NTFS therefore if you don't use D:, you don't need to do anything.
