dvd burned won't play except on my laptop

a friend download a number of videos onto a spare hard drive. i was able to burn a dvd of one of them and it plays on my laptop, but not on my tv's DVD player. any suggestions? I am a newbie and fairly dumb-user, so please be kind

We need more info please, what file type, size, ect

 

(you can't just burn a MP4 to a disc and expect it to work)

Probably you need to convert them to a standard DVD files before burn.

 

You can use DVDFlick or DVDStyler for the job. ImgBurn is just a burning tool.
