Backing up PS2 discs

wayno12

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any suggestions on backing up PS2 discs? The very first one I backed up worked perfect, since then, the last 7 have made really cool coasters. I have a I/O Magic Dual layer burner[iDVD16DL] and have set my write speed as 1x. Everything shows that it writes sucessfully. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Wayne

Also, I am using Sony DVD+R discs which show a manufacturer as Yuden. Book type is DVD-ROM

OK, I rebooted my computer, put in a new disc, and wrote another one just to make sure you are getting what you wanted.

as polopony said you should have a modded ps2 to play backups, also you should burn at 8x, the rule that burning at slower speeds gives you better quality doesn't necessarily apply to dvds, in fact burning discs at lower speeds than the recommended one usually gives worse results.

It must be, hes first one played ok.

The very first one I backed up worked perfect,

Hello everyone. Sorry I couldn't reply promptly, I was out of town. I did try one thing as a last resort type of thing and downloaded the trial program called Alcohol 120%. I backed up 3 games with it and everyone worked fine.

I don't know what the difference is, and like I said earlier, the very first disc I backed up using imgburn, played perfectly on my PS2, but then failure after failure from then on.

My PS 2 is "soft modded using Swap Magic 3.6 that I just purchased. It seems to work flawlessly combined with my backups.

The first disc you've burned with ImgBurn was this also a DVD+R?

There are reports that the very first series of both PS and PS2 didn't except DVD+R even not with bitsetting.

To be on the safe side I'ld recommend to use DVD-R media instead.

This sounds about right. My PS2 (vers 1) won't touch +R. It's also picky about the -R media it uses. Taiyo Yuden work fine. Most other media won't work. Go figure.
