Verbatim DL burns won't play in standalone

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I now have 7 coasters from trying to burn verbatim DL+ discs, firstly in toast 11 in osx (on my hackintosh dual boot) and then in windows 7 using the latest imgburn.

It's a new liteon sata optical drive - iHAS124 W - latest firmware update.

After the first 2 coasters I tried the DVD ROM booktype option but still in my standalone (Pioneer DV-575a with latest firmware) I get "no disc"

I also played with the layer split options to no avail.

My standalone has previously played verbatim DL+R discs albeit burned with a retired setup.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks!

The log don't indicate any problems.

Does the disc plays in the computer with a software player? PowerDVD, Total Media Theatre, etc.

Does the player run any other disc, burned or original pressed discs?

Try cleaning the player with a lens cleaning disc.

Look for updated firmware for your player.

Yes on the pc it's fine!

Does the player run any other disc, burned or original pressed discs?

Fine with most others,

Try cleaning the player with a lens cleaning disc.

Done but no difference - still "No Disc"

Look for updated firmware for your player.

Updated to very latest.

Might it be the layer break point maybe?

Probably not.

Look at your original data and how it was created.  The disc burned and verified therefore ImgBurn did what it was supposed to.  If your drive cannot recognize the format of the disc contents start at the beginning and look for the problem.
