zacoz
Day of the Triffids was actually required reading during my first year in High School (12/13 year olds). We then watched the movie at the end of the term.
dbminter
My mother was also a Dallas fanatic and I had to sit through it a lot. Keel played one Clayton Farlow for 10 years on the show. I've no idea who that character was, though. I never got the chance to read Day Of The Triffids until 1992, in college, some 7 years after I got the VHS. In exchange for a copy of the movie, my Botany professor gave me her copy of a paperback of the novel. It was missing its cover. BTW, next time you should see 28 Days Later, try to not think of Day Of The Triffids when you see that guy walking through the deserted city. I saw it in a theater, and, I was thinking the same thing: guy wakes up in hospital, no one is there, roams the streets, no one is there.
lfcrule1972
It's very similar to Triffids isn't it db ?
dbminter
That part of it seems definitely inspired by Triffids. The rest, though, no. For instance, 28 Days seemed to establish that the plague was limited mostly to areas of the United Kingdom. Plus, there was no global blindness or man eating plants. dbminter
Hey... did we ever figure out WHAT the Hell the film in question at the start of this post was?
lfcrule1972
Ha ha I just assumed we were right db - it was the Triffids !!
dbminter
I am curious to know if it was the case. Fiend Without A Face sounded right at first, but, the new information does say it is The Day Of The Triffids, instead. I can't REST until I know! dbminter
That sounds more like Dalek doings than Triffids. Daleks have been known to abduct people... but, only for a little while, until the lawyers caught up with them.
lfcrule1972
I think the lawyers also had to arrange for the abductees to be re-clothed did they not ?
dbminter
Yes, times have certainly changed. Just 40 years ago, Triffids couldn't be seen on screen without their clothes on.
