NeilA Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 First of all, hello to all forum members. A friend of mine has trying to burn his first dual layer with this excellent program. Let me say, that I burned a couple hundreds dual layers so far without a single failure or error, like he has. Well up to the point, here's ImgBurn log: I 18:53:21 ImgBurn Version 2.1.0.0 started! He is using the same burner like I do, although he has an older version of firmware. Maybe here's the catch. Iupgraded my burner from version 1.06 to 1.08 months ago, while he obviously didn't. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks for your replies.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 As the error was during the finalisation stage (AFTER all the data has been written), that would explain why the verify worked. Verify also only took 19 mins, not 1 hour. I guess your friend wasn't at the machine when the error first popped up. He then did 1 retry before ignoring/cancelling it. There was a 45 minute period between the retries. As you said, the first and most obvious thing to do is update the firmware and try again. Your friend could have just been unlucky and got a dodgy disc.
NeilA Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 Thanks, Lightning UK, for your reply. It really was the firmware. Now, according to my friend, everything seems to be ok.
lfcrule1972 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 It seems that updating firmware is even more important for Dual Layer burns than for single layer ones Thanks for letting us know the outcome
blutach Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 In these situations, although the likelihood of success is not great, you can try to manually close the disk thru the tools menu. Regards
