Burning Dual Layer, stuck on 2nd layer

Yea so I'm using the verbatim discs you guys recommend and I burned according to what the guide said, and now it's up to 52% (I assume this is between layers) and it's just stuck:

  • time elapsed keeps counting (1 hr 30 mins now lol)
  • buffer stopped at 100%
  • device buffer stopped at 2%

No error, no nothing, and the last message in the log was 'writing to layer 1'

Using the latest version would be a good start.

Well, it's not like it's an ancient version...it should still burn dual layer correctly. So I dunno... I'll upgrade tho. Hopefully it won't eat another DL dvd. >_<

And press F8 and see if the drive is sending stuff back.

Regards

When I press f8, it said that it was enabled in the log, but beyond that it didn't do anything. Should I be looking in a particular place?

And is there any way to save this disc? Or maybe resume it and just burn the 2nd layer?

2.0 to 2.1 is a really big jump in the development of the program and support is always for the newest version because the newest version always fixes the problems/bugs found in the older version

The drive is overburning that media to 8x.

Whilst it *thinks* that's ok, I would advise you to stick with 2.4x - at least until you've got it burning full stop.

Alright so I'll just cap the speed and hope for the best. Thank you so much! :)

did you upgrade to 2.1 ,thats what needs to happen first

Yessum.

But before I try to burn another disc, is this one definately fried? I mean I assume the first layer burned correctly and something happened switching over to the next layer - so is there any way to utilize the rest? It's a dollar a dvd so I just want to make sure. ;x

A $ a disc ? That's quite reasonable compare to average prices here... I think last time I checked they were nearly ?2 a disc altho cheaper in a spindle....
