Syncronising Cache.... Forever!

Hi,

I've burned four coasters of my last six attempts - Imgburn (and also 2 times DVDDecr****) hung forever at 'Syncronising Cache...' :( I've waited for about 15 minutes, but the program(s) still do nothing at all and i had to cut them off with the task manager...

Any idea what this could be?

Hi,

what happens if you restore the programmes defaults?

you should be using SPTI and not I 12:01:35 WNASPI32.DLL - Nero WnAspi32 - Win32 Nero Aspi Library - Version 2.0.1.74

I was using SPTI before i switched to WNASPI32.DLL - made no difference... But i will try to restore to program defaults, even if i'm not aware that i have changed anything....

Ciao, Robert :)

Try other discs, try new firmware.

The drive does the finalisation stuff itself, I have no control over it once I've told it to do it via that sync cache command.

Is that ALL you get in the log or does it keep sending commands over and over?

It's either thinking it's still busy (repeating commands) or it's hung (no more commands).

It's sending commands over and over!

I use Verbatim DVD-R TYG02 or Verbatim DVD-R RITEKG05 and burned many of them without any problem - but suddenly this 'hang' occurs with the last five or six burn-attempts. I've tried some DVD's of the same package with nero and they would burn without a problem....

Hmmmm - could it be that 'Verify' is the problem? I'm not sure, but it could be that the last successful burn with DVDDecrytper or ImgBurn was with with 'Verify' disabled....???

Is there anything i could try - without getting more coasters? The Benq-Burner is master on the second ide-channel....

Nope, verify is nothing to do with anything at this state.

Sync Cache is a command every program will issue. It's part of the spec when burning discs so I really am stumped as to why it's working one minute and not the next.

As I said (and you confirmed), the drive IS still accepting commands so nothing software related has gone wrong, the drive really does still think that a 'long write' is in progress.

Whilst TYG02 should be ok, I'm not 100% suprised you're having issues with G05 discs. Their quality isn't always at the level it should be - even when it is under the Verbatim name.

Did you give the firmware update a try?

I used to recommend the G05's as they had always worked great for me, however out of the last 100 I ordered I had 25 straight fails then a couple of good ones and then back to crap.

This was also confirmed by a couple of others here. Since then I have been using the more expensive but definitely better Taiyo Yuden dye 8x DVD-R. Not a bad burn or failed verify so far.....
