LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 FF = Frames. It comes from the old 'CD' days when 640mb was 74 mins, 7800mb was 80 mins etc. 75 frames = 1 second. 60 seconds = 1 minute.
dbminter Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Ah, I wasn't aware of the 75 frames being 1 second, actually. So, any length that is under 1 second will be listed as frames. So, for DVD video, it makes sense since every 15 frames is about half a second. And 5 units of 15 make 75.

Plus, I didn't make this goddamn system. I'd have done something a little more SENSICAL, like, say, use a 10 based system!

Which, I never thought of it before, but, since as was said this was CD format, a frame on a CD begs the same question. Because it's not video at all.

Sometimes it's just easier to read 73:59:00 for an image size and know it's gonna fit on a 74 min cd rather than needing an 80min one. I don't think of CDs in terms of MB capacity, it's Time capacity for me - being old skool and all that

In this day and age, it is quite possible I could remove it - and have thought about doing so several times. The trouble is, if I remove it, I'm bound to upset someone who DOES want/use it. I just can't win!

It does no harm by being there so it's really a case of leave it be or remove it and tidy up where there will now be a few blank areas within the dialog window.
dbminter Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 As for resizing, seems to me easier to just leave it as a blank line. When the user turns it on, the data appears. When the user doesn't, it's a blank line on the screen.
