For some days ago I bought a new drive to my computer (AD-7170S) hoping it would work better than my old LG drive and also to get rid of IDE-cables in my computer. The media I'm using is Premium with the media code: SONY08D1. Problems: It says "Disc not empty" or it'll have write retries when burning lead-in which I think causing the a very long loading time for my computer and my DVD-player to load the disc(5min+) in some way. I'd also invest in some Verbatims, while some have good luck with the Sony brand others don't. Usually bad discs (cheap) or burner not getting the power it needs from the PSU or the drive is faulty. You took care of the last possibility by buying a new drive.
