I am new here but not new to the world of backing up DVDs. I have been using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter for about three years now and I recently had some problems with Decrypter and decided to give ImgBurn, a try, because of all the positive comments, I found about it. However, I dont guess I had a problem with Decrypter afterall. Im having the same problem with ImgBurn. When I select the file, I want to burn, it says Device Not Rady, Medium Not Present. That made me think, that maybe my E Drive ( my DVD burner ) was messed up, so I tried burning a CD with a Roxie program and it worked fine. Also, t hat comment, made me think, that Mediium Not Present-made me think, I didnt have a blank in the E Drive, but I do. Ive even tried several blanks, to make sure it wasnt something with the disc. Can someone....please please please help me. Ive got about 40 DVDs, I need to get backed up and have been behind on doing this, for over 2 months. Thanks in advance to whoever can help me..

Thanks for responding to me.

I used DVD Shrink with DVD Decrypter, for about three years to backup, copyrightted discs. Ive also used DVDFab for Disney and Sony related stuff. If IMGBURN wont do this, after using Shrink-what do I need to do ? Ive got a few files on my harddrive, that have already went through Shrink that I have as the source and destination is E Drive ( MY DVD burner ) I just dont know what " Device Not Rady, Medium Not Present. " means.

Here is the log

I 09:40:49 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD+RW!

and Ive gotten DVD+R ( Ive got HP, Memorex, and Sonys )

Thanks again...

Noswal;

1. Hi and welcome to the forum

2. ImgBurn is a burning program only, it will not copy copyrighted discs.

3. Post the log from IB.

4. What media are you using?

Let's break it down...

'Device' - the drive.

'Not Ready' - opposite of 'Ready' - as in it's ready to accept media related commands.

'Medium' - the disc

'Not Present' - opposite of 'Present' - as in it's in the drive tray.

So basically, your drive doesn't think there is a disc in the tray.

If there is, your drive doesn't support it.

dontasciime----by medium, you do mean discs, correct ? Because Ive tried three different brands.

And as for a new burner/writer, what do you suggest ? Whats the price range ? Since my PC is a Dell, I figured Id give them a call too and get an estimate.

Thanks for writing me
