Im sure this is an issue that has been addressed by many of you before and i apologise for boring the life out of you, but ive search the net and cant find a definitive answer to my problem.

Ive got a sony AW-G170A burner with fully updated firmware (mate of mine uses one with no coasters) and its running as the primary master on the secondary IDE channel. i extracted the .iso/.dvd using Schtrom version 3.3. I kept the task as whole disc (stealth extreme 3.0 splitvid), and used a sammy for the extraction.

Im using Aone discs (with i think are rebaged RICOH discs) and again i know these work as my mate with the same burner has no problems (a coaster in 10, i think he said), but i have also had 2 coasters using Verbs. Using ImgBurn 2.3.2.0 I always get the same error. Half way through verification (just as it goes from one layer to the next) and i get the error below.

If Verbatims don't work either, clean your drive or buy a new one.

The error is from the drive producing low quality burns which it then can't read back - or that the reading in general is messed up (cleaning may fix that, along with improving write quality).

Never assume that because your mates drive / media combo work that yours will too. No two drives are created equal - nor are two spindles of discs.

Yet another post with log from crap media but says the same thing happens with Verbs.

Do yourself a favour and buy another writer and use verbs @2.4x

so would i be right to assume that my problem is poor media and a poor burner? obviously i could go out and buy a pioneer 112D and use verbs, but ideally i want to know what is wrong with the current set up i have. i can burn another verbs coaster and post the log if that helps (just didnt want to waste my discs)

cheers for that lightning. i appriciate the response.

i will invest in a pioneer and see where that goes. do you know if the pioneer will run as a slave to the samsung? the samsung only appears to read xbox discs when running as the master?

The log from a Verb burn would come in handy - if nothing else than to see if you get the exact same error and in the same place.

i'll see if i saved the error logs. i know i took a screen shot of the error message that comes up, but i dont think i saved the full log. if not i will run a coaster through the burner for research purposes
