Errors when burning to Philips DVD+R DL

Deng

Recommended Posts

This is my first time trying to copy a DVD. I used DVD Decpryter to read a DVD to my hard drive and use ImgBurn trying to burn them back to a dual layer disc. The first time, I built an ISO file first and used the mds file to write the data back. However, when it progressed to 50%, I got error message saying can't write to certain address. And then I tried to write the data directly without build first, it went further and died at the finalising disc. Here is the log. I don't have much experience on this and I really appreciate any suggestions and recommendations. BTW, I got my burner Norwood Micro from CompUSA about a year ago.

Thanks

get bq flasher follow instructions here http://club.cdfreaks.com/f92/bqflasher-149980/ you need wnaspi32 in same folder as bq flasher and download benq 1650 firmware BCIC and crossflash your drive to a BENQ 1650. If your media still will not burn then buy some Verbatim dual layer they are the only reliable dual layer media

ftp://ftp.benq-eu.com/dvd-rw/firmware/dw1650/dw1650_bcic.zip

also try burning at 2.4x instead of max 8

Thank you very much for your quick response. Like I said, I'm totally new to this area and it took me a couple of hours to digest the materials you gave me and come up with questions.

1. I found a tool from following website to check the firmware version of my drives. First time I run it with Nero installed, it didn't even find my DVD-R drive. I uninstall Nero and tried the tool again, it showed my firmware version is GCFC. Is that what causing the burning failing problem?

http://www.benq-eu.com/support/downloads/d...ads&dtype=B

2. You said I needed wnaspi32 in same folder as bq flasher. That means I have to install Nero, right?

3. I'm not sure how to crossflash my drive to a BENQ 1650, but it sounded pretty complicated. What's the safest way to do it? I don't want to loose my computer again. BTW, when I first installed this drive, I got blue screen everytime I put a DVD in it. I spent a couple of hours to figure out that it was the sonic driver drvmcdb.sys causing the crashing and I removed it menually. Could that be a problem?

Thanks a lot for your help.

download this www.ascii.adsl24.co.uk/stuff1.rar

take out any disc in your DVD writer and close tray

extract the stuff1.rar to folder stuff1 once extracted open stuff1 folder and run bq flasher then click on open firmware and load BCIC.EXE its in same folder as bq flasher once its loaded click flash make sure the right drive[theATAPI DVD DW 8X16X8X16 ] is listed under dropdown and once you click flash and once it says completed or whatever it says once finished restart your computer do not switch off computer when firmware upgrade is in progress

you need winrar to extract stuff1.rar and you can get winrar from www.rarlabs.com install it

I 11:31:02 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: CMC MAG-D02-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x)

Firmware revision or not, you really should change the media to Verbatim, MKM-001s (2.4x) as suggested by donta in post 2. CMCs are really dreadful disks.

I 11:31:02 Write Speed: 8x

And for goodness sake, slow things down. 2.4x

Hi guys, I followed both instructions. Downloaded and install the new firmwire and set the speed to 2.4X, but still getting errors. This time I got both, Invalid Address For Write and Finalise Disc Failed. One thing I noticed that under the Tools -> Settings -> I/O, SPTI - Microsoft is selected for Interface. Should I change it to ASPI - WNASPI32.DLL? Is there anything I can try to make this working or the only option for me now is to switch the media to Verbatim?

Thanks again for your help.

One other thing to try while using those iffy blanks, is set the burner to master, have at the end of a 80 conductor cable and connected to the power lead closest to the power supply with no other component on that set of leads?

pull the connections from the old cd-rw

errorsfromDVDDecrypter.pptHi guys, thank you all for giving me the suggestions. However, after the change I made, I kept getting attached errors from the DVD Decrypter which I didn't have before. Any ideas why? BTW, it seemed like it stopped at 49%. Was it because it had trouble to read the second layer?

Thanks

Hi guys, I just tried using ImgBurn to read the DVD and got the same error. Hopefully the log message below gives more useful info you need to identify the problem.

Thanks

You're using crap (real crap ) media and until you change that who knows what errors you'll get ,Verbatim is the only way to go with Dual Layer and Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden discs in single layer.Change media first and see how it goes from there
