hi,

i recently started using img burn so i'm new.

i have a problem, i'm using tdk dvd-r 16x, the first time i burned an .iso file it was burning well at 16x, no prblems.

every time after that the write speed sticks at 1.0x/1.1x.

i've changed nothing since the first time yet still nill joy :shifty:

can anyone help?

thanks

EDIT: i'm using a philips dvd burner and i've just updated the firmware to the latest version, still no banana

thanks for the quick reply

I already did, and i also reinstalled the IDE controller.

but if that was the problem then the first disk would have been burned at 1x and not at 16x...... right?

The device buffer goes up and down quite a lot, between 20% and 99% does anyone know what could cause this?

Also in your signature your saying use verbatim, i'm burning normal 4.7 gb dvd-r, is it still better to use verbatim then?

Taiyo yuden and Verbatim is probably the most consistant medias amongst burners and players, you may e lucky and use cheaper media that works for you, but the same media may not work for someone else. so we suggest TY and Verbs as these work for near enough everyone . I personally use Taiyo's and have only found 1 standalone player that wouldnt play them correctly.

Its possible that your philips drive doesnt have a proper write strategy for 16x tdk , most likely cause though is DMA issues or possibly your actual burner. what model burner is the philips.

what happens if you choose 8x ?, does it burn ok faster than 1x ?

have you set up automatic write speeds ?? and accidently set the TDK 16x at 1x ?

your happy you've followed the FAQ exactly as it says ? ( and no im not trying to suggest you didnt ) but its worth trying it again

well the philips is a PDV16LSP1 there used to be no problems, i've followed the FAQ's to the letter and tryed every burn setting aswell as the auto burn function.

The writer should be able to burn the TDK at proper speed as the first time (16x) was with the same set-up as i'm using now.

here is some data that might clarify something, i used auto speed at 8x with a TDK disk
