Hello, I have been trying to burn some backups for my originals all day and have come across this error each and every single time and I have no clue as how to proceed. Some background I can provide is that my DVD Drive is a Sony DVD+-RW DW-Q58A and that I have been using Memorex 2.4x-8x dvd dls (lol i know...i know). I realize that Memorex dvds dont work well but im suspicious that the problem could lie elsewhere due to the fact that the burning process never actually starts. Anyways...here is the log:

is there nothing else I can do? what if the verbatims don't work?

You writer is a bit old and a new writer has better support for new media codes, than your current one. It's also ages since an updated firmware was released for that writer. The lifespan for writers are not very long.

has using verbatim discs been confirmed to resolve this error for some people?

No, never been confirmed !! OF COARSE its been confirmed, Thats why you was told to go and buy some.

You even said in your first post

the burning process never starts because those memorex discs are shite, you even agree that they "dont work well".

stop panicking and go and buy some verbatims
