Will not write, too big file?

Hi,

Trying to write a (too?) large file, approx 7.6-8 Gb and was hoping to be given the option to write it to two regular DVD's.

But I get:

I/O error

Failed to reserve track

Invalid field in Parameter list

Tried the FAQ and changed settings as described to manual 32K setting, no luck. Did a search but could not find anyone with the same issue.

Is the error due to the too large file to fit on a regular DVD? (I used compusa DVD -R, I do not use dual layer)

Is there there a work around? I do NOT know how to split up the file in two if needed...

Thankful for any help!

ImgBurn doesnt have the ability to 'split' a dual layer iso into 2 smaller files for 2 normal -R discs .

you will have to do that by some other means.

At 14.32.10 in the log file You accepted a warning that the media was to small for the file you wanted to burn ie; you used a DV5 blank to do a DV9 project . thats why it failed

Thank you for info "the Stig"? ( I am a gearhead / racer and love the show Top Gear, also happen to have a couple of Volvos btw.. :teehee: )

I found a way to split the files in half and make two individual new images, tried on the first one with a VRIFY session and it was all good. Then went to actual write and it failed at 98% complete with the same sectors failing as in my initial tries with one big file...Do I have bad files to begin with? Or are there files missing in my attempt to split the file in two?

Thanks

Please see the log for both verify and write sessions below:

I 19:57:34 Destination Device: [1:1:0] BENQ DVD LS DW1655 BCGB (F:) (ATA)

There's firmware BCIB available for your burner. Remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after it has finished.

Thanks UKLIGHTNING on media suggestions, note taken.

Thanks MMalves on the firmware link, did the update and voila it created the DVD! It seems to play OK in the TV DVD recorder - but the funny thing is my computer does not see the DVD after it is burned - no media present..not sure why it sees a blank and all other discs.

I also burned part two on a DVD and the burn worked, but it will not play on the TV DVD Rec/player, some files are probably missing in the part two image - have to expirment to see what is missing and re-do a image for part two.

Same went for this part two disc, my computer did not see it in the drive.

Anyone have any idea why DVD 1 can play fine in my TV/DVD but not seen at all by my computer's DVD drive?

Thanks

If you look at your write speed (MAX which equals 16x according to the write descriptors) and then compare that to what your drive actually achieved you'll see that it's WAYYYY down on what it should be.

That means there's still an issue somewhere.

Make sure you Verify your burns - this is even more important when you know you're having issues.

After that it's just a case of taking my advice and investing in some decent discs. Princo are useless.
