Hello all! Newcomer here and have been reading the FAQ and existing posts on I/O Error: Write Error.

I realise majority of the problem stems from the actual discs itself and/or the DVD drive.

I have been trying to burn ISO onto a DVD-R with imgburn on default settings and this is the log:

I 12:53:41 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!

I 12:53:41 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)

I 12:53:41 Total Physical Memory: 1,572,144 KB - Available: 1,033,512 KB

W 12:53:41 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.

I 12:53:42 Initialising SPTI...

I 12:53:42 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

I 12:53:42 Found 1 DVD

I updated my drive from the link you provided. I think I need a new drive because I tried to burn after update and restart, this is what I got from imgburn.

to sort your 'used' discs from the unburned ones, put ImgBurn in write mode MODE > WRITE , put a disc in your drive, make sure the correct drive shows in the destination box and look in the right window pane .(see below) to see what it says for Status. if it says Empty, you can still use the disc

Disc Information:

Status: EMPTY

Erasable: No
