Between these DVD-RW drives, which would you buy?

I would do this:

Decide which media codes you are going to burn with and then look at scans posted in forums (CDFreaks and others), to see how well recent models can deal with those media codes. You can get pretty good results even with cheaper media if you pick the right burner.

Don't know in which country you live - but the new Optiarc 7240 (released in the US so far) looks like a nice all-round burner.

depends on how much you want spend, you get what you pay for

I would stay away from Lite-On if you are burning +R media.

Excuse me but I don't understand.

I think I haven't bad burns with them.

I usually burn at 8x and 12x speed -no need high speeds-, using good quality +R media (Verbatim DVD's)

DVDInfo says Quality: 99,25% - 99,60%, and Average Jitter 8% - 10%, similar to Lightning UK! review.

Even the latest models - like the iHAS-422 - have this problem.

Sony + Nec started Optiarc. Now it's only Sony. The 7240 is based on Nec chipset and not just a rebadged Lite-On as some Sony/Optiarc models are.

Ok

so SONY now holds Optiarc

but now NEC holds?
