It's something windows is doing (or another driver).

There's no difference to ImgBurn (when it's running that 'CreateFile' api command to get a 'handle' to the drive) if you have a disc in the drive or not.

So something deep down in windows is messing stuff up.

What have you installed / updated since it last worked fine?

Do you have DAEMON Tools / Alcohol on your PC at all?

Please post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in ImgBurn's Tools menu). What other burning/DVD related software do you have installed on your computer?

What other optical/virtual drive programs do you have installed (if any) ?

By that I mean what programs have you got installed that can burn discs - in any way, shape or form. Anything related to ISO images?

Also, do you have anything like DAEMON Tools or Alcohol 52 / 120% installed (they're virtual drive programs - they emulate a DVDROM drive)

--------------------------

You'd need to uninstall the patin couffin drive to really clear convertxtodvd off your system.

Perhaps this thread will help?

soccerhotstuff4u;

FYI - Apparently something is triggering the governmental oversight built into the computer core according to Fed law. The parameter was put into place to stop hackers from opening encrypted files (real ones) not the encryption put in place to comply with the MPAA.

Search: Eventlog Type: Security Eventlog Source: Security Event ID: 1381 Full Description: The maximum number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded.

There is a similar API return code:

1381 ERROR_TOO_MANY_SECRETS The maximum number of secrets that can be stored in a single system was exceeded. The length and number of secrets is limited to satisfy the United States State Department export restrictions.

How long have you had your drive? Drives will wear out after 2 or 3 years if you use them a lot. Sometimes less time than that.

1) System Restore it back to a date everything worked

2) Try using another drive on your system to see if it works

3) If you can, do a clean install of windows. Maybe you have a virus or malware installed. Perhaps some program deleted or overwrote some critical system file?

4) Make sure you are using the latest version. They are updated to support more drives.

5) Be sure you DON'T use registry cleaners. They can take out critical system info needed to run things. So can disk cleaners. CCleaner is a good, free, safe system cleaner. But don't use the reg clean function.
