Well you're wrong. :-) it's not guaranteed to happen but leaving SP intact can cause playback issues. SP stretches the DVD standard to its limits of what is allowed. Software players may be less prone to choking on it but when burning the image back to disc, you'll copy it back on to the blank. That's when the issues can arise, the standalone can choke on it for a while and then proceed, or simply refuse playback because it's a protection mechanism and it didn't get removed.
They don't cause an issue on originals because it's tied into CSS, on the backup CSS is gone but the SP wasn't.
Trust me, i deal with that stuff on a daily basis at the RedFox forums.

Well if you used AnyDVD back then, then you ignored the warning it gave you when you started the ISO ripper on the DVD. You're specifically told by AnyDVD NOT to do what you did, because of what would happen did. Unlike other protections SP cannot be removed on the fly. If you rip to ISO, the SP is copied along with it. It can only be removed when ripping correctly to folder structure, at which point AnyDVD flags the fake ones, and during ripping it only rips the real structure to hard disk. SP is nothing new. You can try to mount the ISO and use the AnyDVD 'rip video DVD to hard disk' option, but since protection is already removed I can't guarantee the folder ripper will be able to strip away the SP. If that's the case, you could try CloneDVD but no guarantees there either

Welcome to the world of structural protection which create fake vts files, same type of mechanic as screenpass protection or ssif files. Nothing a proper decryption tool can't fix

Obviously it's the conversion software or the files themselves. You may not have said it was imgburn, but you did post in IMGBURN support forum section. I said nothing about Blu-ray nor DVD. You need to consult the forums for your conversion or where you got the files. As said it's not an imgburn issue, you're looking in the wrong place.

ImgBurn only burns what you feed it. If there's audio issues the problem are your files, not anything ImgBurn does.

1 of course they don't have the same consistency. One uses inorganic dye the other a carbon. You've been told that a dozen times now.

No, we already told your a few times here. MDISC uses an inorganic carbon recording surface.

You have branded inkjet datalife ones, and non branded. Neither have ever given me issues. I've pretty much only used printable verbatim (branded and non branded) with my lg burners. No issues ever.

Neither the region or LTH type have anything to do with the movie playing or of sequence. Incorrect scene order is usually a protection issue or the player picking the wrong playlist

The ps3 isnt a software player which I clearly said. The ps3 can play DVD's but it can't play video structures on a data disc. A data Blu-ray disc with multiple dvd video structures on it doesn't suddenly turn it into a super sized DVD. The file structure doesn't match, the filesystem won't match,... Result: invalid disc for hardware players. Software players don't have that problem, you point them to the DVD root folder and they start playing.

Well he can do what he wants if he burns as data disc. It can contain the full structures for storage but that's it. Only thing that will work is pointing a software player to the DVD's main folder for playback.

If you'll read the notice that comes with asmedia chipsets it's real easy. 'DATA drives only' aka HDD or SSD. ODD's are not supported at all or can have erratic behavior

I'm not apologising for anything or anyone. I've been using ImgBurn since it was bundled with the ASK toolbar, not ONCE have i been hit by unwanted installations. All the installer does is load the opencandy dll. It's that dll that connects to the ad server and downloads/installs the offers. I'm not disagreeing that the way opencandy does this is good (they make opt out things look like you can't select them), but that's opencandy doing that. LightningUK has no control over that.
But if it's any consilidation, afaik he said that the company behind opencandy closed up it's opencandy division to focus their efforts elsewhere.
As to the 2 topics, no it doesn't and thats considered crossposting, double posting (especially if there's only 3 minutes between them) and spamming. Some forums issue (temp) bans for that kind of behavior

And why are making 2 topics? I've never had any issues ImgBurn installing anything I didn't want it to. YOU accepted the offers and told the opencandy plugin used to install it. ImgBurn didn't do that on its own.

You placed it there by clicking NEXT without looking at the screens. ImgBurn installer doesn't install anything you don't tell it to install. You uninstall the offers YOU ACCEPTED to install the same way you do anything else. Go to windows software and programs, select the item and uninstall.

Basically what lightning and I have said a few times now but you still refuse to read, maybe caps will help. THE DEFAULT SETTINGS USUALLY WORK FINE FOR MAXIMUM COMPATIBILITY. Stop messing with things or risk creating issues. Repeatedly asking the same things over and over will not change the previous answers.

There is no best. Not for anything. 'best' is relative. What may work for one user may not work for you at all. There's too many variables. Your blanks, the type, your burner, the firmware,... Default usually works fine. You don't give up do you? Always more questions 'what's best for this, what's best for doing that...'. maybe you should read post 74 again.

It opens in image mode because you told WINDOWS to do that with auto pay settings, not imgburn. Just go into your WINDOWS auto play settings and change it. Imgburn doesn't open at all for me when I insert a blank disc. It's a specific configuration issue on YOUR system only.
