Burning multiple ISO files on to 1 DVD

I took the bull by the horns and burned the individual ISO files. The operation was successful. In the end, I didn't have to use ten DVD's, because once the language apps are installed on the PC from the disc, I don't need the disc any more. I can erase it and use it again for installing the next level. I still don't understand, though, why I could write-burn the individual ISO files, but not the cumulative ISO after using the build mode. I thank you so much for your help Ittiandro

Burning multiple ISO files on to 1 DVD

I see your post only now and I had already sent the description and the results of my trial a few minutes before. . May be they crossed in the mail. Anyway, I'll try to explain what I want to do. I wouldn' t have any problem if I burned each of the ten ISO files separately in as many DVD, but it would be a waste of time and material. So I was hoping to be able to burn all the ten ISO's to one disc. The number of ISO files is ten because each of the three languages has 3 or 4 levels, each one being an ISO file. To cut down on the number of DVD's it would help if IMG Burn allowed to burn folders instead of single files. Is this possible? I hope this helps you in..helping me Thanks Ittiandro

Burning multiple ISO files on to 1 DVD

    1. I processed the ISO files on Build mode using as a destination a folder on my PC. Here I got ONE ISO file for 3 GB’s. It looked good, because it is exactly what you said and I then tried to Burn this to Disc in WRITE mode. Unfortunately, I still got the same ten ISO files on the DVD. 2. I tried extracting the ISO files ( on the PC ) with 7-zip, as you suggested. This time, after extracting, I got 4 folders for each language ( Data, Documentation,Languages, Speech). It looked good. Since these folders are the same appearing on the DVD after each burning of the ISO, Ithought I wouldn’t need to burn them and I just copied them to disc. To no avail. The Language program doesn’t see them and therefore it cannot install the languages. 3 If I can’t get this working, I have no choice but burning each of the 10 ISO files on separate DVD’s and then may be I can copy them back to the PC in one folder, hoping that the language program can install them from the PC. Thanks Ittiandro

Burning multiple ISO files on to 1 DVD

Thanks 1 . I did restart the PC. The DVD still shows the ten ISO files. Besides, I checked the Properties for each file and they are ALL ISO. 2. I have no reasons to believe that the ISO files I was trying to burn in Build mode were old or perhaps incorrect ISO's because the 1st ISO file done by IMG Burn was burned correctly and the other ISO's were part of the same batch. 3. The 3 GB ISO I made in Build mode was comprised of the ten ISO files, but I did not see one cumulative ISO file for 3 GB. This size ( 3GB ) shows only on the Build screen. 4. You tell me to make sure that when I load the ISO in Write mode the size is 3 GB. Well, in the operation I only selected the Build mode and I pressed the Build button . I never selected Write mode after. Should I have? May be this is the problem. 5. In the last paragraph of your reply you tell me to explore the ISO file on the ( supposedly burned disc. You speak of ISO file at the singular. Well ,there isn't ONE comprehensive 3 GB ISO file on the disc. There are ten of them, for a total of approx 3 GB. 6.Since the ten ISO files are for three languages and each language has 3 or 4 levels, there may be several . 1 or 2 or 3 levels corresponding to different languages. Is it possible that the computer gets confused when it sees more than one file with the same level? Thanks again Ittiandro

Burning multiple ISO files on to 1 DVD

I redid it. Yes, the size of the ISO files being burned in the build mode is exactly the same as the one of the files I dragged into the IMG build screen from the PC. I even saw all the ISO files and the different languages being( apparently) burned. HOWEVER this time something new came up and I am back to square 1: the files " burned" on the DVD are still ISO files and they are exactly the same as the ones on the source folder to be burned from. It looks like IMG Burn copied the ISO files to disc instead of burning them. Any clues? I notice that the 1st partial burn I had written to you about had a different layout on the disc, but at least it worked, however incomplete: on the DVD there were no longer ISO files but four folders: Data, LANGUAGE and another 2 folders. The Language Application on my PC was able to see them and install the course correctly. This time, unlike before, the application language program can't install them because there are still 10 seemingly unburned ISO files on the DVD. Why ? Thanks Ittiandro

Burning multiple ISO files on to 1 DVD

I see the problem. The 10 iso files were for about 3 GB, but there are only 400 MB burned on the disc. So something went awry . May be I did something wrong. Thanks for your help Ittiandro

Burning multiple ISO files on to 1 DVD

I have 3 language courses on my PC for a total of 10 iso files which I want to burn to one DVD. I did drag all of them into in the build mode screen, as you suggested, but the language program installed on my PC picks up and installs only ONE of the 10 files, which means that only ISO was duly burned . The Language program on my PC doesn't see the other languages and and levels , each one corresponding to the ISO files ( 10) dragged into the build screen. What am I missing? Thanks Ittiandro

I'd like to mount all 6 Cd images on virtual drives, but Daemon Tools Lite free version only allows one virtual drive. For more, I have to pa.. Alternatively can I perhaps mount the 6 cd img files (.mds) to the same Virtual drive? How? I don't think I can do it with Daemon Tools or IMGBurn. Any suggestion? Thanks Ittiandro

Bull’s eye! It works with Daemon Tools Lite Virtual Drive. The first time it didn’t work because I was trying to burn the image to Virtual drive, which IS a paid option. Also, I had converted ( or, better, reconverted!) the .iso file to .mds with Winiso. I don’t know how I ended up with an .iso file for CD 6 only and not all the other CD’s, but I had a hunch this may have been the problem . Probably some wrong manipulation. Anyway, this time I installed the virtual drive and mounted the ( converted) .mds file for CD 6 on it and the setup kicked in beautifully like for all the previous Cd’s on the physical drive. I learned a lot from this exchange. Often, problems are the cause of progress’ Thank you all for your help. Ittiandro

I had already downloaded Alcohol120 free version recently.. The installation process told me that I needed to restart the computer in order to continue. I did it, but I was asked to restart time and again in an endless loop and the installation never completed. In the end, I desisted . I downloaded Alcohol 120 again a few moments ago, because I had virus problems and thought that may be this was the reason. To no avail! The same re-start loop still kicks in. I wasted too much time. Better giving up. Thanks Ittiandro

The Virtual Drive mounting option is not included in the Daemon Tools free version( Daemon Tools Lite). I have to pay for this option. Is there an other software I can try? I can still read the texts from the ADOBE folder which has a subfolder called TEXTS . These texts are not clearly identified by name and author and I have to guess the contents by the abbreviation. It is a bit longish, but I guess I have to live with it if I cannot burn the CD properly. Maybe it is a corrupt file or I have done something wrong with it. I'll try to re-download the software, hoping that the .mds file will be intact, in its original version. THanks for your help. Your software is beautifully designed and easy to work with. Ittiandro

For his 6th cd there are three files: a MDF file ( 699 MB), an other file listed as Disk Image File but as .iso file( 328 MB ) in the Properties tab and a 3rd file ( 1kb!) showing as .mds in the Properties tab. For the .mds (1 kb ) file and the .mdf ( 699MB) file I get the "invalid/not supported" message, allegedly because only single track images are supported. For the .iso file ( 328 MB) the burn process goes through, but the SETUP doesn't work. None of these three files can be successfully burned to DVD. By" mounting the .mds " in Daemon tools, do you mean mounting to a virtual drive?I don't have Daemon tools, anyway. Can I use WinIso or Magic Iso instead? Or perhaps is there a way to reconvert the .iso file back to .mds? I could also try to re-download the Software program, because I think there was an .mds file which got somehow converted to.iso. Would this work? I find it odd that all the other 5 cd's could be burned pretty well and they do work. Thanks Ittiandro

Thanks dbminter Very good progress! I have been able to put all the 6 individually burned cd's on one DVD with the build mode : 5 of them work pretty well: when I click SETUP on any of them on the same DVD , I can read the texts beautifully. The only problem is with CD 6 : the SETUP won't work. I re-burned file CD-6 individually with no better luck : there are are three CD-6 files on my source folder I had downloaded: one has an ISO ending( 335 MB), the 2nd one shows as a MDF file( 699 MB) and the 3rd one shows as " Disk Image file " ( 1 kb), but as MDS on the Properies TAB. The 1st two ( apparently) complete the burning process, but then the SETUP won't work: I get a CMD Command prompt which flashes few times and then goes away, OR( in the third case) I get a message saying" invalid or unsupported file format. Reason: only single track images are supported".I can't even start burning. I hope to be able to fix this glitch with your help. Thanks Ittiandro

O.K. I think I got it. I'll burn each MDS file to a different DVD, then I'll create a Temporary folder with 6 subfolders, each for one of the six burned CDs. Then I'll copy each of the burned DVD's contents to the corresponding subfolders . I am not too sure how to proceed with the Build mode after that, in order to have all the 6 cd images in ONE DVD : I thought that , since the 6 subfolders would contain the already burned contents of the six individual DVD's, I wouldn't need to burn them again and that the build mode mode would simply transfer the 6 separate subfolders ( already burned) into one DVD. You seem to say that after the Build mode there is a 2nd stage where I have to burn again. Anyway, I'll go ahead and try. If it doesn't work, then, and only then, I'll let you know and you may want to clarify the above. If it works, I'll still let you know and you won't need to spend more time in clarifying. Less work for you. At this point, I have just seen your following post with a supposedly easier method. Since I have some questions on that , too, and I don't want to load you too much, bearing in mind that, as you seem to imply, a Forum like this is not a platform for a full course, let me try first the method you originally suggested. Thanks Ittiandro

    1. Regarding he 1st paragraph, do you mean that, as an alternative to the procedure outlined in the 2nd paragraph, I can, if I want, load ( copy?) the contents of the DVD as it is now ( those six files) back to IMGBurn as the origin files and then burn them to DVD? . Would this finally open up that long list of files and folders, including the SETUP .exe file require to unlock the software and allow me to read he texts? 2. Regarding the 2nd paragraph. If I try to burn the 6 Cd images in six separate BURN processes, each time the system will ask me to erase the disk first, won't it? Is there a way to burn them as a batch? I thought this was what the BUILD mode does. Also, supposing that I can burn each subsequent CD image on the same DVD, what do you mean by" copying the contents from the CDs,( not-as you stress- from the CD Image files) , to 6 temporary folders"? More specifically: a) what and where is this" contents'? Is it the contents of the DVD after burning the image( like the the long list of files and folders showing on the DVD after I burned successfully the first CD) or is it something else, somewhere else in the computer and not on the DVD ? b) As to the six temporary folders, supposedly one for each CD, what do I do with them after copying the " contents" on them ?( whatever it is) Thanks for your help and patience Ittiandro
