Well thanks for the effort Cynthia. I've been meaning to update the drive anyway, it also has problems opening at times. I'll try my media on a friend's machine and look into getting a new drive.

Well I have one verbatim 2.4 that a friend gave me, so I'll go ahead and try it out. I'll post what happens in a few minutes. Does anyone know what could be going wrong? I have updated the firmware and believe I have the latest one. Edit: By the way, this error only seems to occur when I try burning DVD+R Dual Layers. I've burned these exact dvds successfully before, but can't get them to work consistently. They are memorex (if it matters)
