  1. Thanks. Do you think that means the drive is breaking down and I should replace it? I burned a few discs after those failed verifications and they burned fine.
  2. I've tried burning 2 different Bluray ISO images using the Verify option. Both times Verify stops at 97-99% with this error message: "cannot read medium incompatible format". The discs are BD-R Pidata AAA-CMC (HTL with Dark Inorganic Dye) 25GB 4x. I'm only burning at 4x. I've burned to many of those discs before to the same drive without issues and from the same image on a hard drive so why do I get that error message saying incompatible format? Log is below. I click on Try Again but I soon get that error again. I cancel the Verify window then close and re-open the program then do another Verify and it gives the error again. But if I close and re-open the program and try burning onto a new blank disc then verification works! Why? Does it matter what read speed the Verification is done at with regards to the speed causing failed verifications as I just leave it on max read speed? I 07:30:15 Operation Started! 3. Any other programs for discs with both audio and video? At the moment I'm trying to read a Doom shovelware CD called "Cobra Utilities for Doom & Doom II" from 1995. It's just a data CD and the disc looks to be in mint condition. When I try to create an ISO at max read speed it says "A timeout has occured whilst parsing the ISO9660 file system". I clicked on Yes to tell it to give more time to finish but the error pops up again after several seconds. If I click No then it starts creating the ISO. Why's it giving an error if it IS able to create an ISO? Anyway, in the end, I just cancelled everything and restarted the ISO creation process and this time it started creating the ISO without showing me the error message. Any idea what all of that was about? Log is below: I 20:26:44 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started! 4. Thanks. Do you know of any other programs that can check both data and audio tracks / sectors for errors such as missing data due to bit rot?
  5. Hi, I've got a few game CDs/DVDs and game demo discs which nobody else has uploaded anywhere online so while I can create a hash of a CD I have nothing to compare it against to check if my CDs have bitrot or not. Is there a way to check for bitrot/missing data with ImgBurn when backing up to an image if I have no other file to compare my image backup with? Will ImgBurn simply fail to create a backup image if the disc has bitrot because data is missing? Also what image formats should I backup games to for game with and without redbook audio? How many different types are there? Thanks
  6. Is the iaStorF.sys actually needed? What does it do? Is it safe to delete? I've deleted it and my drives are still burning fine.
  7. Thanks for your help. It seems that updating the firmware fixed the issues for both drives. Very weird as they were working fine the past few months. now I've burned lots of discs on both drives set to SPTI. I was wondering, here's my filter driver load order: http://postimg.org/image/men3a1xo1/ Do you think any of those things would have been causing problems with regards to IO errors, etc? I removed the GearASPIWDM which I think was from iTunes. Not sure if the AnyDVD was causing problems but I removed that as well. Note that I don't have AnyDVD open when using ImgBurn. Any idea what the iaStorF is from? I removed that as well.
  8. My bios says Sata Mode is AHCI. I'm using just 1 of the Bluray drives now for further testing of this issue. When the drive is connected to a SATA II port with a red SATA II cheap cable I got off Ebay or a high quality cable from Scan I get an IO error or miscompare when Verifying either immediately or after a few burns. I also have a Supermicro card installed in a x8 slot which adds 8 SATA III ports. I have the following cables connected to it: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3ware-multi-lane-sff8087-to-4x-sata-fan-out-cable-05-metres-single-cable When I connect the cables from that card to the Bluray drive I didn't get any problems (I got no issues after burning 16 discs). Why would I only get problems when using my motherboard's internal SATA ports yet I don't get any issues when using the SATA card? I also tried using the drive in a another Windows 8 PC I have. That PC has minimal software installed as I only use it for video capture so there was never anything listed in the Filter Driver Load Order other than the Bluray drive. Yet I still had to run Microsoft fix it for it to fix something there before it would burn. Very strange. I was also using a different cable that time and most of the time when I try to start a burn it just gets stuck on "Reserving Track" before it even starts the burn. I could never get it working. What do you think the problem is on that PC? That PC was also running in AHCI mode. I also noticed that in "Computer" the drive (with blank disc in) is listed as having 22.5GB capacity instead of 23.3GB.
  9. Is there nothing else I can do? I've installed the series 7 chipsets is v13.1 driver you mentioned and restarted my PC. Same problem. Problem happens with both drives. Restarting my PC every time I get an I/O error/drive disappears, is fine but I'd like to actually get to the root of the problem and fix it. Please help mate. Here's my Filter Driver Load Order. Is there anything wrong here?: http://postimg.org/image/men3a1xo1/ Is there a particular drive and motherboard you could recommend that won't have this issue? I could use Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit. I also put my Bluray drive inside a spare Windows 8 PC I have which has minimal software installed. So basically there's nothing installed that could interfere with the burning of discs. It was on SPTI. Filter Driver Load order on that only had the Bluray drive mentioned so I figured it would work without problems. I didn't burn at all at first. I ran Microsoft fix it and it said it fixed a problem with the Filter Driver Load Order. How could there be a problem if there's nothing installed apart from the drive? Anyway after that I burned a few discs OK then I tried to burn another disc and ImgBurn is stuck on "reserving track". It won't let me stop it. Here's the log I copied while it was on reserving track: I 13:07:48 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started! Yet the image is only 22.8GB. I notice that in Computer the drive is listed as having 22.5GB available space! Very strange as Windows 7 says 23.3GB. Yet after that I tried to burn with ImgBurn and it worked!
  10. Do what? Turn my PC off then on again? I did that and tried to burn a disc and it failed with an I/O error half way through burning. I inserted another disc and it failed immediately with the same issue as soon as it started burning. Log is here: http://pastebin.com/dVdSJ0qL
  11. Hi, I did that and it's working again. But again after several days of burning ImgBurn can't see the drive again and the drive is missing from Device Manager.
  12. I installed the series 7 chipsets is v13.1 driver you mentioned. I burned a disc in each drive. One of the drives worked fine. The other burned the disc but got stuck at 0% when Verifying the disc. I cancelled it and it said "Waiting for Read Thread (Device)". It wouldn't close. Before I ended the process I copied the log here: http://pastebin.com/y1q4BVpc I opened ImgBurn again and it said searching for SCSI/ATAPI devices. I also couldn't eject the disc from the problem drive. What should I do now?
  13. No. Do you have a link to somewhere where I can download the latest driver? Is there anything else I can do or is my only option to download a driver?
  14. Log: http://pastebin.com/wy1GYRL2 I had a similar problem years ago and you told me to use VirtualClone Drive and set the I/O interface in ImgBurn to ElbyCDIO (Virtual CloneDrive). I did that for both my writer drives. That solved the problem. But now a year later I've got the same problem again with the same drives. Is it possible the drives have reached the end of their lives? Seems strange that they both fail at once.
  15. Log it attached. I've been burning discs this past year without problems. On rare occasions after burning a disc the drive might disconnect where Windows can't see the drive. But I restart my PC and it sorts it. That didn't work this time. I also used the Microsoft FixIt program which got Windows to see the drive again. However about half way through burning I get the IO error popup so the burn basically failed. That's happened several times in a row now so I can't seem to burn anything on that drive. Here's a screenshot of the popup. http://postimg.org/image/wk9bek9vp/ Log.txt
  16. To speed up the fail rate so I can see the error, could I just create a 5 minute ISO and then keep burning that until verify fails again? Would that work or would I need to burn the original full length Bluray ISOs?
  17. I went back to 12.9 and I've also got the latest motherboard firmware installed. Safe Mode worked when I burned a few discs. However I don't have the time to wait all day to see if I get a failed burn because I can't use the internet or listen to music, etc while in safe mode - sometimes I can burn 30 discs without problems so it could take a long time. What were you hoping to find in Safe Mode? On 12.9 in normal mode (not safe mode) I burned a disc and it worked but I'm sure it will fail at some point as it did before. In the mean time I've got 12.9 installed and I'm using Virtual Clone Drive as the I/O. Strangely 12.9 seems to be worse than without the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver installed at all as even when using Virtual Clone Drive as the I/O, it's causing the verify speed to slow down at random. Without the driver installed I never got that problem when using Virtual Clone Drive as the I/O. What test could I do with Virtual Clone Drive? If I'm getting this failed verification problem when using Virtual Clone Drive as the I/O then doesn't that mean that the drive itself is faulty? Just trying to understand all this, I'm not sure what to do now?
  18. I tried to install 10.8 but it showed a popup message that said my computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Is that normal? I noticed that it's only compatible with Windows 7 32 bit and I have Windows 7 64-bit. Also what are the driver diskette zip files for?
  19. OK 12.9 didn't work. Immediately on the first disc verify just paused at 0% for several hours. I had to end the process in task manager to close it. I'm trying the 10.8 drivers now. Do I still use SPTI in the IO tab for that? Also should I uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology 12.9?
  20. OK I installed what you said and the family tree now looks like this: What should I do now? Should I just burn discs again to see if I get the failed verification problem?
  21. I just want to double-check that I install the correct thing. Do I insall f6flpy-x64.zip? Where in the familty tree screenshot does it tell you what version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology that I currently have installed?
  22. Hi, it was already on Automatic, I was just showing you the things I tried that didn't fix the problem. I changed to SPTI and this is what the Family Tree says:
  23. I have an LG BH10LS38 Bluray burner that I bought from Amazon. I have the latest firmware (1.03 from November 16th 2013) installed from http://www.lg.com/uk/support-product/lg-BH10LS38. I use CMCMAG-BA3-000 discs (AAA cheapest discs available from here: http://www.optical-disc.co.uk/acatalog/BLU_RAY_25GB_Single_Layer_Discs.html I've also tried all the other discs on that page. I'm burning at 4x which is the max speed that my discs support. My problem is that verify can sometimes fail, I would say I get a 10% failure rate. When it fails it nearly always fails at 0%. Yet I can cancel verification and play the disc and it plays fine so the verify process seems to be buggy. I know it's not ImgBurn at fault, but still I need help! In addition, on rare occasions after verification fails, the ImgBurn program will freeze and it won't let me eject the disc. Sometimes after I OK the failed verification message, the disc won't eject and it says on the bottom of the window: Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... Yet I can still see the drive in "My Computer". I either have to wait several minutes for the program to give me access or I have to restart my PC. Things I've done to fix it that haven't worked I have Virtual CloneDrive installed. In ImgBurn settings I changed the I/O interface to ElbyCDIO. I used to have a problem with a slow verify speed when burning 2 discs at once however using Virtual Clone Drive solved that issue but not the failed verification issue. I found this in your FAQ page: You get an I/O Error saying 'The Parameter is incorrect'. Answer: In the settings screen, change the 'Transfer Length' option to 'Manual' instead of 'Automatic' and put it on '32 KB' instead of '64 KB'. I did that. When in write mode I right-clicked on the drive drop down selection box and selected "Family tree". When you select Virtual Clone Drive as the IO then it will say no family tree information is available for this device. I assume that's correct. I have downloaded your Enable_Debug_Mode.reg file and ran it so it should show more information in the logs. Do you think it's the drive itself that's the problem or my system? 1 Verify failed half way in Miscompare.txt 2 Verify failed at start IO error.txt 3 After 2 I removed the failed disc and inserted another disc but searching for Drive not found.txt 4 3rd time lucky it worked.log 5 Miscompare .log 6 Verify failed at start then when I tried to close the window, it froze and wouldn't let me eject the disc and took several minutes to close.txt
