anthojoe Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 (edited) I am receiving this error message. I am following the guide step by step for burning a dvd image file (video). This error message occurs each time, regardless of the image I am attempting to burn. Below is a screenshot. Your input is greatly appreciated. http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-...606924_1122.jpg Can't use the code to insert a screen shot, if you can follow that link please do so. Thanks. anthojoe Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 Can you just look at this error message? I am at work and don't have access to any log that you mentioned.
digidragon Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Without a log it's difficult to say what the problem is, but your firmware seems well out-of-date. You are on BGS4, and the latest is BS0Y. Update the firmware and see if that helps. http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SOHW...re/DR16BS0Y.zip
anthojoe Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 alright thank you digi for your help. i'll post a screenshot of the log when I get home, and update the firmware as well.
chewy Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 that looks like an emachine/gateway oem version of the drive, stock firmware will not work codeguys will rpc1 has been down for the last 2-3 days tho
anthojoe Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 that looks like an emachine/gateway oem version of the drive, stock firmware will not work codeguys will rpc1 has been down for the last 2-3 days tho Yeah I noticed that when trying to get to their site. Are there any other 3rd party sites offering the firmware upgrade that I will need? (and yes, I have a Gateway) I was reading some other forums, and another guy was unable to upgrade the firmware with the link posted above, http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SOHW...re/DR16BS0Y.zip, all references pointed towards the CodeGuys site for the correct firmware upgrade.
blutach Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 What makes you think I didn't look at your screenshot? It was only after that I asked for a log, as per instructions in the pink bit at the top. Eventually, when you get home, please post it. Regards

Ok, after locating the CodeGuys mirror site, I downloaded and installed, the correct firmware update. Installation went without a hitch. I tried to reburn the exact same image file as before. No error message whatsoever. One thing I noticed though, as the completion percentage began to rise, the read/write lights on my burner were dormant. Upon completion, I removed the dvd-r, turned it over, and I could tell that nothing had actually been burnt. According to ImgBurn, the process was completed sucessfully. Any ideas here? Why would the program believe everything went fine, but it never actually wrote anything to the disk?

chewy Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 You would have gotten it all on your own sooner or later, not often we see that, hope it all works, that burner is getting pretty old, but those are the best to play with and learn on.
