check your ide cable or replace it with 80 wire

Thanks - I saw this fix resolved it for other people..

However - Its strange since I have burned 50+ DVD-DL with this drive - as well as 100+ normal DVDs and then I start getting this.

I have just managed to get another sucessful burn - I uninstalled the trial of CloneCD I had which removed the Clone ASPI type driver.

I do honestly believe this is a software issue. My dvd drives are connected with 80 wire and my HDs are SATA..

I'll try again to see if I can get two in a row...

I wiped my PC and reinstalled Vista and Imgburn.

Still experiencing the same issue.

However, I tried some other media, Intenso crap quality that I did not mind turning into a coaster.

I've managed to burn 10 disks in a row.

So I go back to my "Verbatim (2.4x) Double Layer DVD+R" and nothing but coasters.

I've checked all my cables and dma settings andeverything is okay - its definately an issue with software as I can use the Verbatim disks in my laptop with any problems.

They're quite low level errors, they'd only come from your drive / miniport driver.

Did you actually change the cable / set the drive as master / check it's UDMA in the bios / follow the DMA post in FAQ?

Simply looking at these things and saying 'yeah, that's fine' isn't good enough. You have to actually do them!

Basically, at some point along the way the data going to/from your drive is being corrupted. Normally it's the cable, but I guess it could also be a memory issue.

So after doing all the above mentioned things properly, you might like to take 5 mins (or an hour) to run Memtest+.

Hi LIGHTNING UK!

Thanks for your quick reply.

The drive is connected as primary using a 80 wire cable. I havent swapped this for another cable yet - but since my PC hasnt been opened very often I would be surprised if it could of got damaged.

UDMA is enabled in the bios and is also showing correctly in Vista across the ATA channels.

I was able to burn over 50 of the Verbatim brands before using Imgburn 2.3.1

I can burn other media at 8x speed without issue.

Why do I only get these errors with DL Vebatims ?

I will run Memtest+ and swap the cables and feedback.

thanks
