daa files seem to be a compressed iso file. If you get power iso and a daa file if you decompress the daa. file with power iso it creates a iso file. This type of file it seems is only created with power iso.

why not simply burn the EXtracted DAA file with ImgBurn , after all , as you state, ultraiso is the compressor/decompressor for these files

ImgBurn is a burning program , not a extraction prog like winrar, winzip, ultraiso.

what would you want ImgBurn to actually do ?, extract then burn the iso ?

I want it to burn the .daa file like any other iso image. When you extract a .daa file it doesn't make a .iso file, it extracts all the files in it to its respective folder.

PowerIso can easly convert an .daa into an .iso.

Even PowerIso converts the .daa to .iso before burning.

This means that .daa file cannot be directly burned but a conversion must be done first.

DAA is a format for an image file, which supports some advanced features, such as compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes (similar to .RAR and other compression formats).

An archive.daa of 649MB become an archive.iso of 700MB.

50MB make a discrete difference when you have to upload/download it, this is why its widely used in peer-to-peer or torrents network.

lol well I've still never seen a DAA file!

Nobody in their right mind would use something that only one program can open.

Geez, some people have enough trouble burning an ISO! :D

PowerISO will decompress a DAA file to ISO or BIN, click on TOOLS->DECOMPRESS then select ISO or BIN.

It's "Tools | Convert..." with the latest version.
