  1. Numbers;

When ImgBurn reads the disc upon startup, what ID does the disc have?

    This is what Imgburn says

    Physical Format Information (ADIP):

    Disc ID: YUDEN000-T02-00

    Obviously a cheap fake

    lfcrule1972

I didn't buy them.....I "borrowed" them from the brother in law so hopefully he will buy better media with the money he saved....rofl

  2. Lol lfcrule1972....thats exactly what I thought

They are from a spindle of Mr.Dvd discs courtesy of Tesco and are multi-functional

The first function is to show the principal of "you only get what you pay for"

The second and most important function is that they make excellent coasters to put your coffee cup on :teehee:

  3. Still trying to get a good burn out of the Benq, all but given up me thinks.

Im sticking withthe NEC, Benq is going into a build for another person, cause I dont want the piece of cr**.

Just did a couple more burn this morn, one on the Benq the other on the NEC

    Judge results for yourself!!!! :(

Second result was burnt on the NEC

I just dont understand what is going on with your burning

    These 2 scans are taken from a benq 1650 using Verbatim + and - 16x discs burnt @ 8x

  4. The 1655 I guess as it's the top of the range ;)

    Thanks for that.

Tried SVP & Ebuyer but no listing for BenQ, any suggestions? <_<

Komplett has both the 1650 and 1655 in stock

The only difference between the 2 being that the 1655 has lightscribe functions

  5. Laugh, I nearly cried.

Spent out on new kit 64BIT CPU, XFX6800 GS card, decent drive, or as I read to believe & I get this type of result!!

    Don't panic the olde

You haven't wasted your money...its just Nec drives aren't very good at scanning where as the benq,Liteon and plextor drives do very well in this area as Lightning as already pointed out

You would probably be wise to invest in some better media too like Verbatim etc

    Scan done with a benq.......

  6. Don't give it up so easy...PC components are meant to drive you to a nervous breakdown.

First try updating the firmware to the latest version from the Msi site

    Release new F/W version: 160D

    1. Enhance Read/Write performance.

    2. Enhance DVD?R/RW media compatibility to support more discs on the market

Looking at the reviews for the media you are using,it is not the best in the world but neither the worst.

Do you have any other re-writeable media of a different brand to try to see whether it is the media causing problems

Eliminating all possible causes can be time consuming but also acts a knowledge base for others when problems are solved.

I have been using this program as well as dvddecrypter for a long time and after installing the latest version suffered from the same slow down, buffer problem that others have already stated, but no way would I give up using it because it wasnt working at 110% efficiency, but wouldrather wait for the fix that I'm sure is coming.

  7. The review for that drive did not show very good results and the drive itself is a rebadged Optorite, one of the cheaper drives available

    # Poor DVD+/-R/RW writing quality with most disc types

    # Does not even qualify as a ?1 sheep? writer in the sheep test.

    # Does not support Mt. Rainier.

    # Does not support writing/reading 99 minutes CD-R discs.

    # Does not support bitsetting for any media types.

    # Slow at writing DVD-R at 8x.

    # Few CD-R discs that works with the HD-BURN technology, HD-BURN created discs works in almost no drives.

    # Poor CD-RW writing quality

    # Slows down writing speed on many DVD+/-R discs when writing
