Homer, thanks for your input. I had upgraded the firmware on this drive two years ago, but your comments prompted me to see if there was anything more recent. Alas, I found only the same update utility I used last time on the Sony site, but decided to run it again. Lo and behold, it must not have run successfully two years ago becfause when I ran it again it did upgrade to a newer version. I then rebooted (had previously rebooted many times since burning the CD in question) and was able to read the CD!!!! So, you were right about the firmware in my case. Thank you. I don't know the answer to your question about sharing or handles, but I did burn my CD with verify on. The firmware issue appears to have been my problem, I don't think the verify function is related in my case. Thanks again

IsoBuster reads the CD fine and sees everything. Interestingly, so does a MacBook Pro with Leopard. Windows Explorer on the Windows XP(Home version, SP2) machine on which I burnt the CD on with Image Burn shows nothing on the disc and this computer does not AutoRun or boot from it either. Any other ideas?? Thanks.

I had the exact same problem tonight. I can read the contents of my ISO file on the hard drive with IZArc (it is a Windows XP Bootable disk image), but after it apparently successfully burns and is verified with the most recent Image Burn software, nothing is windows explorer sees nothing on the CD nor will it boot.
