I have no idea what i did i will try a burn now and see what happens if this works i will find out what i did and tell you about it and i cant thank lightning and cornholio enough for helping so much Edit: Just burned 4482MB at x16 in 6 minutes! And i found out what i did I set the on chip sata mode to Combined and the PATA IDE Set to ch.1 master/slave i dont know why i did it or what it means but i do know it fixed my problem i hope this helps someone with the same problem

I did build my pc myself but i guess i didnt change much in the bios except boot from hardisk and disabled onboard raid(just wondering if this might be causing the problem) but i did go to the gigabyte site and found that the latest bios for my mobo is F6 which is what i have and i will configure things as you said I did not find pxhelp20 on non-plug and play drivers The reg file: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}] "Class"="hdc" @="IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" "Icon"="-9" "Installer32"="SysSetup.Dll,HdcClassInstaller" "TroubleShooter-0"="hcp://help/tshoot/tsdrive.htm" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000] "EnumPropPages32"="storprop.dll,IdePropPageProvider" "InfPath"="mshdc.inf" "InfSection"="atapi_Inst_primary" "ProviderName"="Microsoft" "DriverDateData"=hex:00,80,62,c5,c0,01,c1,01 "DriverDate"="7-1-2001" "DriverVersion"="5.1.2600.2180" "MatchingDeviceId"="primary_ide_channel" "DriverDesc"="Primary IDE Channel" "MasterDeviceType"=dword:00000001 "SlaveDeviceType"=dword:00000000 "SlaveDeviceDetectionTimeout"=dword:00000001 "MasterDeviceTimingMode"=dword:00010010 "MasterDeviceTimingModeAllowed"=dword:ffffffff "MasterIdDataCheckSum"=dword:0002043c "SlaveDeviceTimingMode"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0001] "MasterOnMask"=dword:00000080 "MasterOnConfigOffset"=dword:00000041 "SlaveOnMask"=dword:00000080 "SlaveOnConfigOffset"=dword:00000043 "InfPath"="ich6ide.inf" "InfSection"="intelide" "ProviderName"="Intel" "DriverDateData"=hex:00,40,da,53,a7,f6,c4,01 "DriverDate"="1-10-2005" "DriverVersion"="7.0.0.1011" "MatchingDeviceId"="pci\\ven_8086&dev_2651&cc_0101" "DriverDesc"="IntelĀ® 82801FB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 2651" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0002] "EnumPropPages32"="storprop.dll,IdePropPageProvider" "InfPath"="mshdc.inf" "InfSection"="atapi_Inst_secondary" "ProviderName"="Microsoft" "DriverDateData"=hex:00,80,62,c5,c0,01,c1,01 "DriverDate"="7-1-2001" "DriverVersion"="5.1.2600.2180" "MatchingDeviceId"="secondary_ide_channel" "DriverDesc"="Secondary IDE Channel" "MasterDeviceType"=dword:00000002 "SlaveDeviceType"=dword:00000002 "MasterDeviceTimingMode"=dword:00000410 "MasterDeviceTimingModeAllowed"=dword:ffffffff "MasterIdDataCheckSum"=dword:00010d64 "SlaveDeviceTimingMode"=dword:00000410 "SlaveDeviceTimingModeAllowed"=dword:ffffffff "SlaveIdDataCheckSum"=dword:0001bdcb "SlaveDeviceDetectionTimeout"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0003] "MasterOnMask"=dword:00000080 "MasterOnConfigOffset"=dword:00000041 "SlaveOnMask"=dword:00000080 "SlaveOnConfigOffset"=dword:00000043 "InfPath"="mshdc.inf" "InfSection"="intelide_Inst" "ProviderName"="Microsoft" "DriverDateData"=hex:00,80,62,c5,c0,01,c1,01 "DriverDate"="7-1-2001" "DriverVersion"="5.1.2600.2180" "MatchingDeviceId"="pci\\ven_8086&dev_266f"

and i just tried connecting the burner to my old computer its a P3 667GHZ with 128RAM i ran a burn in test mode and the device buffer didnt go under 97%! and the burn speed was x6 ( althought i set it at x8 - still a huge improvement going over x2) that was untill the left buffer bar went down, i cause of the crappy computer Then i reconnected it to my current PC with the same 80 wire cable i used on the P3 and i still have problems Edit: I just tried the read test never went above x2.3
-
My burns ( i tried 3) were all successful my problem is speed There is nothing else on my cable and i didnt try another one, but i will is there another way to check read speed?
-
The windows device manager says the burner is running at ultra DMA 5 how can i test my read speed? and my device buffer(right) is the crazy one while the left one titled 'buffer' is steady at 100% sorry for being such a novice but i did not understand what it is you wanted me to describe what is whacking the buffer right up?

My hdd is sata and i'm using 80wire cables
-
The cpu usage never got to 20% and i dont know if i'm using 80wire cable im using the ones that came with the motherboard

I have a pioneer dvr-110 and my problem is that it seems to be capped at x2 no matter what i do also the buffer is crazy, goes up and down by huge percentages constantly I know this is not an imgburn problem(since it happens on nero too) but i dont know where else to ask i tried other places but they did not know what might be causing this a bit of info: I have the latest firmware (1.22) According to the imgburn & nero logs my DMA is on I try burning with verbatim x16 and LG x8 and the problem is the same on both All my burns are successful, just extremely slow at x2 and a crazy buffer( as mentioned above) system specs: P4 3.2GHZ Gigabyte 8I915P Duo 1024MB RAM I would really appreciate any ideas on what to try
