  1. Thanks for the heads up, LUK! But that is pretty much useless to me now that I have updated the firmware as Cynthia advised. Whereas before the update it used to say that the disc needs to be formatted in the status bar, now it says "Device Not Ready (Unable to Recover TOC)" and I can't even click on the "Write" button as it's gray. This happens only with DVD+R discs, not with DVD+RWs. Is there any way to undo a firmware update? It doesn't really help in any way and the driver acted kind of slow, at one point the PC not even recognizing the drive (after already putting a DVD in and out and checking it out) until I rebooted. If there isn't, no problem. It's nothing major. I'll prolly have to get a new burner anyway. I'm just wary because the firmware update was for the AOpen brand, while my drive's brand is Sony. The "model number" did match tho so that is why I proceeded with the update. If I shouldn't have, please let me know! Right now I'm just wondering what kind of geniuses could create a drive that can write to DVD-RWs but not to DVD-Rs.
  2. Cynthia, thanks a lot for the advice. I did everything you said. Now, on ImgBurn, when I put one of those blank DVD+R discs in, after a short loading time the 'status' bar reads "Device Not Ready (Unable To Recover TOC)" On Nero Disc Info, it doesn't even recognize that I put the disc in. I guess my driver is just too old and useless @LightingUK...hi, I would've posted an IB log, but it never made one. All it kept on showing me is in the 'status' bar that the disc needs to be formatted over and over again after each such "formatting" it did.
  3. The DVD+RWs (also Verbatim) I had before I bought this new 50-pack of DVD+Rs worked perfectly! I tried using both Nero and ImgBurn and both failed at burning to them, and both appear to have the same problem with the discs. They are trying to format the DVD+Rs. Nero says that "formatting disc failed"; ImgBurn "formats" the DVD+R, but the disc still appears unformatted to it. Is that the problem, that it tries to format a DVD+R? Or maybe the discs are just corrupt? Please help. Thank you. Andre Here's one of the reports I saved from Nero:
