Thanks for the heads up, LUK!
But that is pretty much useless to me now that I have updated the firmware as Cynthia advised. Whereas before the update it used to say that the disc needs to be formatted in the status bar, now it says "Device Not Ready (Unable to Recover TOC)" and I can't even click on the "Write" button as it's gray. This happens only with DVD+R discs, not with DVD+RWs.
Is there any way to undo a firmware update? It doesn't really help in any way and the driver acted kind of slow, at one point the PC not even recognizing the drive (after already putting a DVD in and out and checking it out) until I rebooted. If there isn't, no problem. It's nothing major. I'll prolly have to get a new burner anyway.
I'm just wary because the firmware update was for the AOpen brand, while my drive's brand is Sony. The "model number" did match tho so that is why I proceeded with the update. If I shouldn't have, please let me know!
Right now I'm just wondering what kind of geniuses could create a drive that can write to DVD-RWs but not to DVD-Rs.
