The RitecF1 (Office Depot) WORKED at 4x on the laptop. I thought slower would be better for writing. I was wrong. Thank you. And I got my older desktop with two built-in DVDs working for backups. Some originals become too scratched up by the grandkids. It won't write the Office Depot RitecF1 at all and offers only 2x. If Imageburn offers 2x and 4x, is it possible 6x might work on these particular discs?

Do drives sometime burn better at a higher speed rather than the lower speeds?

This time I remembered to click the "verify" box. The ImgBurn kept cycling the disk drawer and after several tries it said the drive seemed to have trouble recognizing the disk it just burnt. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 - Log ; Friday, 11 May 2012, 20:06:09 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 19:30:49 ImgBurn Version 2.5.7.0 started! I'm having trouble with single layer DVD-R discs I'm burning. They aren't recognized as playable by the computer that burned them or other video devices. I do know that Verbatim -R DL are the only discs that worked out of several DL's I tried when first starting into burning. I agree with the pinned topic at top of this discussion about Verbatim working. But I'm trying to use single layer discs for smaller videos and they are not working. Discs are Office Depot brand 16X. Laptop burning is Pavilion dv5140us HP.

I'm having problems burning to DL discs other than Verbatim. Occasionally they work. HP laptop with Samsung TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532M HR08 drive in it. In a guide for Imgburn it suggested changing the book setting to dvd ROM under tools|drive|change book type. Is this a factor in burning on double layers? My last failures were Memorex +R DL which are Ritek discs.

I have an HP laptop with DVD TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-L532M The driver is 5.1.2535.0 I had looked at TSST before for firmware updates. I used Driver Agent to check and it said that I have the up-to-date driver.

Memorex 8x +R DL discs won't finalise. Gives a read or write error. Earlier 2.4x Memorex disks did work. Memorex blamed my drive. HP says to use only certain brands of discs. What do I need to do to make Imgburn work.
