  1. My question is can I make a iso image of say my music folder with sub folders of the artists and albums and the flac tracks to DVD discs

You sure can. Imgburn doesn't care what the files are. FLAC, text, mp3, pictures. It doesn't matter. They're all just data files.

and if so how do I retreive say them back if I want to create a audio cd from one of my flac albums.

The easiest way I can think of is to use Burrrn. It's a really, really good freeware burner made specifically for audio CDs. Let's go through the steps I'd take using the info you've given.

    1. Build a DVD image containing your FLAC files using ImgBurn by adding the files you want to the queue. (Build Mode. Read the guides in the guides area of this forum).

    2. Burn the image to DVD

You now have a DVD full of FLAC files, yes?

    3. Pop the DVD into your drive and fire up Burrrn.

    4. Add the FLAC files from your DVD to the Burrrn queue.

    5. Pop in a blank CD and hit Go/Start.

    Easy. :)

EDIT: Forgot to add the link for Burrrn. :)

Thanx for the quick advice, so should I just burn the flac files to dvd as iso or can I burn the folder containing the flac files as iso I want to be able to navigate to a particular artist or album quickly, and how do I view files with an iso.

  2. My external hard drive failed recently resulting in a loss of my flac files, in hindsite I should have made back ups to discs. This might seem like a dumb question but I want to make sure that I back up my reripped flacs files correctly. My question is can I make a iso image of say my music folder with sub folders of the artists and albums and the flac tracks to DVD discs and if so how do I retreive say them back if I want to create a audio cd from one of my flac albums.

  3. I have been using imgburn now just for few months and I am really pleased with the results am getting. NERO has now been consigned to the dustbin of history, however am still unsure about the discoverey element of imgburn can someone explain to me what that is used for.

    Thank You

  4. I have just copied a audio cd however as well as creating a bin and cue file imgburn has created a cdt file which it has never done before can someone tell me what a cdt file is. I have googled it but am still non the wiser.

  5. I have heard that pc games are notouriously hard to back up however if they are copied to iso then they are playable on a image drive. I currently have virtual clone drive installed on my computer, my question is can imgburn make playable iso,s of my pc games.

  6. I use foobar as my main audio player ripper etc, there is a plugin that can be used to enable it to burn audio cds but it requires nero to be installed on your pc: yuck, it would be awsome if foobar could be used in with imgburn> if not could imgburn be updated to burn foobar playlists:

  7. I recently had problems making an MP3 disc so might I make a suggestion: A useful edition to the EZ Picker screen would be to give examples i.e create mp3 disc, create audio cd etc rather than just at present where there is a loose discription under the icon: This would be especially useful for inexperienced users, also could we have floating icons to drag files to in ez picker i.e drag mp3 files to to a floating mp3 icon to create mp3 disc, a floating icon say for a audio cd: If not floating icons could we drag the files to the icons themselves with inside the EZ picker screen: This would really help alot and would really simplify burning tasks:

  8. The program shows an awful lot of folders being added to the 'Source' box but no 'Files' are being found (at first anyway).

Are you sure you've not checked the 'Archive Files Only' checkbox or something and hence are preventing ImgBurn from adding any files without that attribute set?

Don't forget you'll also need 'Recurse Subdirectories' checked if the MP3 files are not directly in the folders you're adding to the Source box.

Its now working I think my folder structure is mad, my documents my music then artist then year then album then the track etc: It seems if I just go to the mp3s with in each album folder is the best best. A big thank you for everyone being so patient with me THANX again.:thumbup:;)

  11. The type of mp3 (vbr/cbr) has nothing to do with it working or not, when you burn them onto a data disc the file isn't changed.

Compare the ImgBurn burnt disc to one burnt using Burnatonce or whatever it's called.

Do both discs show up exactly the same in Explorer or does the BAO one show up as an audio cd, listing 'Track 1, Track 2' etc. (which is basically what donta just mentioned)

The log of the burn would still be useful. *hint hint*

    here is the log:

    I 22:07:05 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!

  12. you sure burnat is not converting them to audio

No Ive tried with out buratonce on my pc. The onyko does not the recognise the discs burnt with imgburn as mp3 disc but as cd but i have no sound however the same discs play on my pc as mp3s, this is driving me mad.

  13. how many files are you adding when trying

Even more stranger last disc I done nice folders with mp3s in on the disc play in pc but not in the onkyo, I think imgburn does not like vbr mp3s, burn with burnatonce no problems:

  14. You can open the 'Log' window via the 'View' menu at the top of ImgBurn's main window.

Once you've burnt your disc (use a rewritable if you like), just copy + paste from there.

    Make sure you're using v2.4.2.0

Previous logs can be accessed via the 'Help' menu.

If the PC can see all the MP3's on the disc then it should also be fine in your standalone player - assuming it really does support MP3. If it's picky, you (we) just need to figure what's stopping it from working.

Do you know (or can find out) the exact make and model of it?

Its a onkyo cs715 when I burn the mp3 on to disc with burnatonce they play, go to build and add them in imagburn write to device they dont play. the mp3s are variable bit rate maybe imgburn doesnt like vbr mp3s:

  15. how many files are you adding when trying

The last time I tried it was just one folder with ten tracks, still wont play in mp3 player: Cant see why this wont work: do i need to creare iso first:

  16. it does work , you must be doing something wrong

I cant see what am doing wrong, I add folders with mp3s in BUILD MODE write to device hey presto a disc that does not play in mp3 player, this is wicking me off, can some send me a walk through guide.

  17. Yes I have seen and used that guide before and that creates a audio cd from mp3 files flac files etc, what I want is to create a mp3 disc:

oh well I rep for that and not original post Lol

Am uninstalling imagburn its saying the device is locked etc, seems alot of messing around to burn mp3s to disc, dont know whats wrong the discs I have burnt have something on them now but nothing shows up in explorer, very stange and am not get any log files:

Sorry but it's so easy my dog can do it.

you have file.mp3 file1.mp3 file2.mp3 you start or switch ImgBurn to build mode add those files select device if your wanting to burn it straight away without creating ISO.

Will give it another go, so I cant burn mp3 folders with imgburn only single mp3s:

Yes done what you said didnt bother with the folders the mp3s play on the pc but wont in my mp3 hifi however when I use burnatonce they play no problem, imgburn just does not work for creating playable mp3s........what a bummer:

  19. If your player can see the files then it should be playing the sound - that isn't anything to do with ImgBurn.

Can you browse the burnt CD in explorer and see the same files on it that you have stored on your hdd?

Making a data style music cd is the same as making any other cd (i.e. everything done via 'Build' mode) ... and if that didn't work then we'd all have a problem with it.

Am loading my mp3 folders in now to burn should my output be to device or ISO, this is really confusing me:
