  1. If it's a dual-layer disc image, without the .dvd file you may be missing the correct position for the layerbreak. Depending on the contents of the ISO image this may result in a non-working disc.

It is dual layer. So How to I configure that? Can I create my own .dvd file from the .iso? Is there another software to create it?

    Thanks

  2. imgburn is just one program on your system. i suspect you have other problems that keeping a successful burn. Whats your hardware setup how many hard drive, optical drives do you have? Are you using any other add on controllers? can you burn non DL media?

Yeah I can burn non dl all day long quick and easy. I have not tried burning anything else with imgburn though? I use convertx and nero. No issues

Internal hardrive (160gb) and external (500gb). I dont pull files from the external though, per an earlier post.

The verbatrims I got of course were the 8x thats all they had. They dont even get going before failure, the memorex go good for a bit.

  3. Deleted those filters and the same ol thing!!!

It seems with the memorex dl's I get upwards of 40% complete but with the verbatrims I dont even get to 1%.

What next, please dont say try it on a different computer. We are all so invested now.HA!

Thanks everyone keep the suggestions coming. I still NEED HELP!

  5. I like to see what the filter driver load order looks like for starters. Its under the Tools menu. You can use the copy button then paste results here.

Here you go. Does it need to be when I am trying to write or is this OK???

    Thanks

  6. I guess you missed my post about having issues with your system. If you to me try a troubleshoot your system let me know. also you could post you filter driver load info

No I saw it. I just don't know the fix. I would definetely want you to troubleshoot?? What do you need?

    Let me know

    thanks

  7. Besides trying the drive in another pc/reinstalling Windows from scratch, nope.

Heres the other thing. I cannot cancel. No matter what if I cancel it says be patien and never closes. I cannot even ctrl+alt+delete close it. I also cannot get the disc out. I have to manually shut down and on the restart I have to hit eject manually real quick???

  8. This is why I said to try with a different type of disc - so you can rule out the crappy DVD+R DL being an issue.

OK, I went out and bought verbatrims.

Of course my luck. Same thing happened again. The only differenece is it happened almost immediately. I didnt even get to 1% complete.

This really is getting frustrating. Any other advice here lightning???

    thanks

  9. I 20:08:37 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x)

Well I guess this has been your problem all along: low quality media. What's interesting is that the drive doesn't report any errors at all: it just stops working, which is odd.

Anyway, please try with Verbatim blanks and tell us if it did the trick :)

Really, thats it. I will get the verbatrims tomorrow. I know they are not favored but my buddy uses the same discs, same software, no issues ever. I figured I would run through the rest of the pack of these even though I have not got one good one yet before I shell out more cash. I did not buy these for any reason other then they were the only ones available at the store I went to.

Is this honestly the issue? I will get verbatrims tomorrow for sure.

  10. Yeah but don't keep using the DVD+R DL's!

I know I hate anything other than Verbatims but that doesn't mean I want you to keep wasting them ;)

DAMN I was so close. It was rolling along just fine. Got up to 60% complete. I was staring at it as it just went from 1400kb to 900,650,415,200,15,0 DONE! I will rephrase it is not freezing it just stops writing.

One weird coincedence, I turned off my large format printer just then it stared the countdown. I doubt there is any relation to that but thought I would mention it as it was weird. Almost like I turned off the write session, the timing was perfect.

I was certain it was going to work.... Well I am on # 8 DL disc...

What else is there. I have done everything you said from the last post, with the chipset and the DMA.

Once it does work, I will have 1 more question. What about .iso files without .dvd??? Will this work the same.

    THanks again Lightning.

Oh here is the log, no errors just stopped! This is the first time I have seen layer 1 though, getting closer.

    I 20:07:32 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!

I 20:07:32 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)

    I 20:07:32 Total Physical Memory: 1,570,892 KB - Available: 937,256 KB

    I 20:07:32 Initialising SPTI...

I 20:07:32 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

    I 20:07:41 Found 1 DVD-ROM/CD-RW and 1 DVD

  11. Yeah but don't keep using the DVD+R DL's!

I know I hate anything other than Verbatims but that doesn't mean I want you to keep wasting them ;)

  12. Test mode only works on DVD-R or DVD-RW media.

Obviously rewritable discs would be your best bet here... do you have any DVD+RW, DVD-RW or DVD-RAM discs?

Any luck with the device manager screenshot?

Heres the screenshot. I let it just freeze and run all day yesterday. It seem to have kept burning eventhough it was frozen. It got to verifing and kept erroring. It looks to have burned the disk though? Literally 8 hours it sat and never finished. It almost seems as if it is timing out not freezing? The disc did not work.

  13. It can't 'cancel' because ImgBurn isn't in control.

The 'DeviceIoControl' windows API function has been called and ImgBurn is stuck until it returns (success or failure, I don't care which!).

'AUTO' write speed doesn't mean anything if you've not configured the 'Automatic Write Speed' feature. Please take a look in the Guides forum for info on how to do that.

So any other suggestions then? Is there a way to test so I don't keep blowin media? I see the test button but will that help my situation.

  14. If SCSI/RAID isn't visible then you probably don't have anything under that branch - and hence it's not shown :)

Device manager is nothing to do with ImgBurn (obviously!) so it doesn't matter if ImgBurn is running or not when you open it.

I just want to see which controllers are present in your machine incase there are any drivers updates etc.

Are both the buffers full when it just stops burning?

Buffer hits 100% before it even starts writing.

The Device buffer moves all over the place. Now for example is locked at 77%

I just freezes though. If I try to cancel it says OK but does not close. If I try again it says "patience"

It will sit for hours like this without closing.

  15. Well guys I decided to try a different file. All was good up to 32% complete. Then the same old thing. I am going to leave my log running to see if it shows any errors. Here is where it sits right now.

    I 11:39:43 Link Size: Auto

    I 11:39:43 Test Mode: No

    I 11:39:43 OPC: No

    I 11:39:43 BURN-Proof: Enabled

    I 11:39:43 Book Type Setting: DVD-ROM

    I 11:39:43 Optimal L0 Data Zone Capacity: 1,912,976

I 11:39:43 Optimal L0 Data Zone Method: ECC Block Boundary

    I 11:39:44 Filling Buffer... (40 MB)

    I 11:39:46 Writing LeadIn...

    I 11:40:19 Writing Session 1 of 1... (1 Track, LBA: 0 - 3825923)

    I 11:40:19 Writing Track 1 of 1... (MODE1/2048, LBA: 0 - 3825923)

    I 11:40:19 Writing Layer 0... (LBA: 0 - 1912975)

However it ran good until about 12:10 on the clock before it froze with no updates to the log.

  16. Quote: Open up device manager and get us a screenshot of the window when the ide ata/atapi controller and scsi/raid controller branches have been expanded (and are both visible!).

I am confused a bit. I opened the device manager and IDE ATA/ATAPI is there and visible but not the SCSI?

DO I open when imgburn is running?

  17. Ignore all that rubbish, just run the update.

I Flashed the drive. Started again and was on a roll. Stopped at 9% finished. Its not showing any errors yet in the log but the write rate has stopped, only the time elapsed is still running?

    I will wait.

  18. You've done the 1.02 firmware update now then yeah?

Open up device manager and get us a screenshot of the window when the ide ata/atapi controller and scsi/raid controller branches have been expanded (and are both visible!).

No not yet. I downloaded the update but it states to make sure it is the master and no other drives are hooked up. I have not opened my computer yet to confirm this so I did not want to run it yet. I will shortly, then try again and post the info. Thanks for your support.
