  1. Yes the drive is in a Dell PC,original setup...4 1/2 years old. I really don't burn a lot. It actually has 2 DVD drives one for playing and one for burning (Philips) Thanks LUK Steve
  2. Wanted as a test to try on my Laptop to see how it would do !! I'm not surprised to see that it worked Never any doubts with the program. I really don't want to have to use the laptop to do my burning tho. At least I've narrowed it down to the philips dvd8701 as the likely culprit. Now all I have to figure out how to update the firmware, to at least eliminate that. For my test (which was the 1st error - miscompares & unrecovered read errors) I used the same disk to create .iso / .mds and burn and verify at 2.4x.Time it took was 44 minutes and 32 minutes to verify. Not sure how that is for efficiency ?? Laptop specs Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium IntelĀ® Core2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz, 2000 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s) DVD Writer :Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S ATA Device Steve
  3. Thanks for trying to help !! I did download firmware update.Did find a matching firmware on Dell's site and Firmware HQ....completely confused on the next step keep getting "invalid drive specification" errors probably (fat vs ntfs issue). Did try to follow instructions Dell everything falls apart on my part with step 5 & 6 Only way I can get a A: prompt is to use Win xp to create a ms-dos start-up disk 1st disk error burned at 2.4x 2nd disk error burned at 4x I know disk quality shouldn't be a issue. Thanks Steve
  4. Tried burning a .MDS to DL disk, encountered "verify failed" then "layouts do not match" messages. Here's the log Here is the Read mode info Haven't cleaned or updated firmware on the drive yet. Didn't see a driver update on Dell's site, but did see one here...philips8701 is this the right one if needed Thanks in advance for the help Steve
  5. Created a .iso & .mds in order to burn to another disk. Not sure what caused this failure on "verify". Disk seems to played ok, didn't watch from beginning to end just checked chapter stops. Since having this failure updated program to newest version 2.5.2.0, haven't retried yet. Posted log...sorry for the log size, not sure if the multiple miscompare are of any help Had another error with another burn which I will start another thread Steve
  6. Sonic came with the computer, so its OEM not to concerned about reinstalling Steve Thanks for helping

  9. Not sure if this info helps There is some much information at your disposal, it can get hard to sift through all the different settings Thanks to Cynthia, cornholio7, and of course you, for all the guides to help me understand the capabilities. =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.2.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: redbook Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: DLACDBHM Lower Class Filter: DRVMCDB Lower Class Filter: AFS2K Lower Class Filter: PxHelp20 Lower Device Filter: imapi Filter Name: redbook File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\redbook.sys File Version: 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) File Description: Redbook Audio Filter Driver Product Name: Microsoft
  10. No I have not.... I have burned ISO's before I usually just Build-Write-Verify. But I think its worth a try It seems to burning the disk fine , but coughing on verify. I did put the disk in my DVD Player, everything seems OK, but haven't watch from beginning to end to see. Didn't try Nero's CD-DVD Speed to see if the burn was good. I have without any coasters burned many DVD-5 disks. In fact I shrinked and burned to a single layer that same file without issue. Just starting to try dual-layers to preserve PQ. But I realize dual-layers can be tricky. Not familiar with "filter drivers", but I will look into that also Thanks for helping, Love you efforts Steve
  11. Thanks for checking in From what I've read here, not the one's to have ......India :& I have a friend who has used these same verbatim dl made in India disks, without issue One thing he doesn't use is imgburn for his burning (his loss) . I have viewed these disks without any visible errors. Steve
  12. Hi: User of ImgBurn since 1.2.0.0.... Just started to use with dual layer. Got in the enclosed log report errors upon verify, not sure what I'm possibly doing wrong (succeeded 2 out of 6 disks). //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Friday, 02 January 2009, 23:00:44 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 21:55:59 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!
