  1. Shows how much I know! So to burn DVDs I'd have to buy a DVD burner hard drive that I can hook up to the computer via the USB?
  2. I loaded imgburn and did the read function to burn my Sony mini DVD - R disc to the computer. It saved as an ISO file and I downloaded the VLC media player and can play the video file on my computer - no problem there. I then wanted to write it to another disc so I can burn videos, and tried to write it to a blank disc, a DVD-RW mini Sony disc. I selected the file to write and put in the brand new blank disc right out of the packaging. However, I got "Disc not empty," and it won't let me write the video to the disc. Here is the info it comes up with from the disc I put in: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B E106 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-ROM Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Sectors: 716,800 Size: 1,468,006,400 bytes Time: 159:19:25 (MM:SS:FF) TOC Information: Session 1... (LBA: 0) -> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 - 716799) -> LeadOut (LBA: 716800) Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Book Type: DVD-RW Part Version: 2 Disc Size: 80mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 913,407 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 Current Format Capacity: Sectors: 716,800 Size: 1,468,006,400 bytes Time: 159:19:25 (MM:SS:FF) Preferred Format Capacity: Sectors: 716,800 Size: 1,468,006,400 bytes Time: 159:19:25 (MM:SS:FF) Maximum Format Capacity: Sectors: 716,800 Size: 1,468,006,400 bytes Time: 159:19:25 (MM:SS:FF) Please advise! I was hoping to test it out before buying regular DVD - R discs to burn DVD videos of my son's sports. Could it be because I put in a disc that is rewriteable, or does the disc need some special formatting via another step before it can be written on? I am just testing it and was hoping that I could tape over it, but if I need to just put in a - R (instead of -RW), that's no problem. BTW, I have windows 2000 Professional in case that makes any difference. Thanks!!!
