i'm sure i'm missing something, but why is img burn identifying the media as supporting 18x if the label is stating 16x? otherwise i wouldn't need to configure the write speed.. i'll look at the guide... i now set the speed to 12x for this media id in the AWS to be safe, but i'm still curious as to why img burn identifies the disc as being able to write at 18x... or why that speed is thought to be supported.

Still not exactly sure what the issue is/was... firmware, speed setting, or bad discs... but I now can successfully burn using either 12x or 16x write speed settings with these discs. Firmware update can't hurt, but likely the speed setting was the conflict... seems like the discs are okay since no new failures with these discs using manual speed settings. Thanks for your help. This is the real error, which means the drive couldn't write to that disc. What's the brand of that media? i have the same error. but i'm using verbatim dvd-r's. i thought they were supposed to be one of the best medium... i have had the same error with these discs in earlier versions of imgburn. however, i seemed to be able to get through a burn after a reboot on occasion, or trying another disc. guess it's the discs...? i'm confused since it's verbatim and i researched before i purchased these. i've had other errors w/ imgburn (not assuming that i know it's imgburn's fault) with failure to recognize a blank dvd-r after burning and/or reading a cd-r and vice versa, meaning not recognizing one media type after using the other media type. also had an issue w/ the tray locking. both issues were resolved temporarily by uninstalling then reinstalling imgburn. i'm running xp sp2 w/ a lite-on dvd-rw drive. dual core pentium, and 4 (3 recognized) gigs of ram.
