[Issues with a New External Drive and ImgBurn]

I recently purchased a 4TB Seagate External Drive to hold my personal collection of movies.  I formatted it NTFS as I have done with previous drives.  Not it does not appear like I can burn any of the movies using ImgBurn without getting an "I/O Error."  I do not know where to find the error log or I would attach it.  I welcome any help anyone can provide.

Is there a way to compress the movie to fit on one DVD, or how do I split it into 2 DVD's? HELP?!

 

Just FYI, your image even exceeds the DVD-9 (aka dual layer disc) size, so the only way to burn it without re-authoring/modifying would be to use a Blu-ray media (since you have a Blu-ray drive in your system anyway). If you still want to go with the compression method, then you should try some re-authoring software, e.g. CloneDVD2. However, there is a plenty of similar apps available, google for them, see what fits your needs best.

Thanks eraz0r. I have CloneDVD2 and yes, I can burn it to one DVD, but when I play the movie on either a laptop or a DVD buyer it pauses throughout the entire movie. So far, when I had used Imgburn and burned it at 8X speed I was having great luck with how the movie played back. This was the 1st time I encountered the movie size being too big to fit on one DVD. Without seeing a log, it's hard to say.

 

If they skip it normally means the player can't read the disc properly.

 

You can improve the quality of the burnt disc by:

 

1. Updating the firmware on your drive.

2. Burning slower (although this isn't always the case).

3. Using better media - Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the best.

I'll also check to see what the speed is set at - I have not messed with the settings to it is burning at the default speed.

 

I use Verbatim DVD's +R.

First and foremost, I'll be honest with everyone in that I am new to this. That being said, I have found ImgBurn quite easy to operate. I burned about 4 movies but when I play them back they pause and skip a little. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Please talk to me in layman terms. Thanks - AG
