Hi Lightning UK, invest in a SATA Burner ??? In the present economic scenario, nobody is investing in IT assets (at least my customers told that every time I meet them ... ). Considering that from your analysis the IDE to SATA adapter is not able to convert the DVD burner commads, I followed the suggestion from mmalves: I tried to use the IDE to SATA adapter on an Hard Drive and it works. Now the burner is connected as slave to an IDE channel and it works too. The only drawback is that the IDE drive master on this channel is forced to work as UDMA2 like the burner and not UDMA5. Hello, the brand and model of my MB is Asus M3A78-CM. Now the DVD writer is connected to SATA 2 channel. I can use the drive to read DVDs and I'm succesfully using at least another DVD burning software: CDBurnerXP. For that reason I'm trying to understand if there is a way to continue using it with my favourite burning SW Regards, Fabio

Hello, I recently changed my motherboard to an Asus M3A78-CM. Considering that I've to use IDE channel for two IDE HD, I connected my DVD writer (Benq 1620) to a SATA channel, using an IDE to SATA adapter. The drive is recognized by the OS, can read disks and also write DVD using CdburnerXP. Then I tried to burn an iso image to a DVD+RW using Imgburn: 1) ImgBurn starts normally and correctly identifies the drive. 2) I erased the DVD+RW using the Imgburn function 3) When I start writing the image, Imgburn hangs. Nothing is written on the log. The process cannot be terminated: when I try to stop it using the Task Manager, the whole system become buisy and the PC must be turned off. Additional informations: the interface used is the default one (MS SPTI). No other can work, because on my PC the required SW components are not installed. Do you have some suggestion ? Thanks, Fabio
