  1. I am sorry about the missing log, yesterday it seemed to be lost (log dir empty). I forgot that I start ImageBurn by a script with another identity. Today I remembered and found all logs in the folder of that user. As I stated, the write rate is o.k. (I had limited id by settings to 16x): Average Write Rate: 2 323 KB/s (15.5x) - Maximum Write Rate: 2 428 KB/s (16.2x) wheras the verify rate is poor: Average Verify Rate: 1 008 KB/s (6.7x) - Maximum Verify Rate: 1 332 KB/s (8.9x) THIS IS SHOWN IN THE 1RST LOG FILE. Today I used ImageBurn to make a HD image of the disk I burnt yesterday, then I let ImageBurn make a seperate verify of that disk image against the CD used. The rate is not perfect, but acceptable: Average Read Rate: 2 778 KB/s (18.5x) - Maximum Read Rate: 5 743 KB/s (38.3x) THIS IS SHOWN IN THE 2ND LOG FILE. It seems the player/burner is capable to read fast enough, and does do so in a SEPERATE verify task. However, the rate is poor if it is done IN ONE GO (burning and verify). As I told in my 1rst post, this happens only with CD, not with DVD. Any idea? Did I perhaps use some wrong setting? BESIDES THAT, IMAGEBURN IS BY FAR THE BEST BURNING PROGRAM I HAVE FOUND. Thank You in advance if you'll have time to read this. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 - Log ; Dienstag, 10 November 2009, 03:37:52 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 03:23:58 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! 2. I flashed from 1.01 to 1.09, but nothing has changed. So I should rather ask Sony/NEC what's happening. Not much hope I'll get through to them. Anyway, thanks a lot; ImageBurn is a fantastic piece of software.
  3. If I set the speed for burning a DVD to 4x (and drive and DVD could do 16x), it will be burned as expected (4x all through), the check will be done with maximum speed (4x >> 16x, so verify takes less than half the time of burning), which I think is o.k. However with CDs, it's different: if I set the speed to 16x (drive and CD could do with 48x or 54x) they will be burned as I specify (16x all through), but the verify will also be done with the speed set for burning (4x >> 16x), so verify takes about 3 times the time of burning! So it's unnecessarily done in a kind of "silent" mode. It is always like that, obviously not depending on disk brand, contents, or quality of burning. I am not sure whether it matters, but I only burn data disks. I haven't found a setting for the verify speed (except some button for DVD/Plextor, which I left marked as it is default), so I wonder whether this behaviour is caused by the drive's firmware? The drive is an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7203A 1.01 (ATA). I have not used any software to change drive settings from factory defaults. It is not a serious problem, but think it's a strange behaviour. If it is not caused by ImageBurn, there is probably nothing I can do. Any suggestions? I understand Optiarc drives are less perfect in reading CDs than DVDs, but starting with 4x up to 16x seems very slow. Thank You
