  1. Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try burning again at 8x or 12x. Also use high quality media such as Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blanks. Thank you! I'd never have guessed. Have installed update, shopping for DVD blanks tomorrow.
