I burn tons of DVDs (> 2K a year) when I get that error "Layouts do not match" time to toss drive. Problem gone. Drives last about 6 months to 1 year no matter what brand. stopped buying plextor because made no difference. $15-17 drives on Newegg last as long as the >$70 drives
