Hi Lightning UK, Thanks for the tip. I updated the firmware -- but just made the problem worse. Hi Cythia, I tried with a different write speed (10x set via Tools / Automatic Write Speed) and it worked, but I got the error "W 12:31:45 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 1,764 KB/s (10x), Got: 8,468 KB/s (48x)" in the log I then noticed "(Speeds: 8x, 16x, 24x, 32x)" in the log, so I tried setting speed to 32x, and it failed again. The CD-R has 52x written on it. How do I know the maximum speed to set for a CD-R (I'd assumed that choosing "MAX" would cause ImgBurn to select the maximum speed for the loaded media)

I can write DVDs without a problem, and read CDs. But when I attempt to write to a CD-R ImgBurn hangs writing the lead, and nothing is written. ImgBurn will write CD-Rs on my laptop's internal CD writer. Any idea why it is failing on the Plextor?
