Truly appreciated. Conversion went fine indeed and fast... Noticed the iso output size is almost identical to the DVD folder size, so I assume that the conversion is almost lossless?
Probably that is true, but I almost can't believe it, considering the speed of conversion...

I gave it a try, it worked for the 1st DVD in the list. When ImgBurn prepared the 2nd one, it showed "Waiting for you to select layer break position..."
That DVD is 5.08GB.
When ignoring, there is a warning "The image it creates will NOT be suitable for burning onto double layer media."
In this setup it won't be necessary: 99% sure I will never actually burn the .iso to DVD - I play it from HDD.
Is there an optional parameter that 'ignores' (suppresses) this warning? So I can run this batch unattended.It looks fine so far!

Say I have a folder on my HDD like X:\Movies
It contains a number of video-DVDs (DVD5-DVD9 format - with VIDEO_TS sub folders)I would like to convert those to .iso files having the same name as DVD-folder, but then stored elsewhere on the HDD.
So, input is like:
X:\Movies\Name of Movie1
X:\Movies\Name of other movie
X:\Movies\Name of another movie
X:\Movies\Name of Movie2
etc.This to be converted to:
X:\Output\Name of Movie1.iso
X:\Output\Name of other movie.iso
etc.
Probably this should be done with batch/script ? But I don't know how to do that?

Promised to get back on this.
Kaspersky Support suggested to make IMGBurn a 'trusted application', which I did.
I am not sure if this is indeed the solution and only time will tell.
The Kaspersky warning (with v.2.5.4) was the first time after install of IMGBurn
and that was not much later than the date of release, so somewhere since 15 dec.
Anyway, let's see.

The warning seems to indicate the ImgBurn installation program is trying to run.
If you aren't doing it, something else on your machine must be doing it automatically.
I have no idea what that might be (outside of the Secunia PSI app I mentioned earlier).
Is it trying to check for newer versions automatically ?
by the way immediately after install of v. 2.5.5. I got this.

I know it is not a big issue (I click on "Yes, I trust") , but maybe this can be solved in a future release?
Just a suggestion.
The confusing things is that this popup shows up, even though I had not launched IMGBurn.
"Detected a potentially dangerous modification of the application". . .
Users might wonder..: "What modification?"

I have some CD-RW74 here (Philips). They are bootcd's based on Linux (Paragon Harddisk Manager suite).
Trying to erase them, but ImgBurn fails to detect the cd's. Error when trying to read the drive or something.
Any other CDRW or DVDRW : no problem for ImgBurn, only these ones.
Any suggestions?
Else, I'll waste them.

I know this is an old thread, but I definitely agree. It would be nice to have some kind of .cfg file that could be 'imported'.

When you're in Write mode, click the little 'Erase Disc' button that's to the left of where it says 'Test Mode' in the 'Destination' box.
Or you can do it via Tools -> Drive -> Erase
or you can do it via right clicking on the drive selection box -> Erase.
The program automatically erases discs when it needs to before burning.
Hello, allow me to step in here.
I was busy on my other pc and needed a blanc cd-rw on the spot. I only had some with data on it
and cud not find the erase function within ImgBurn. I hardly use this option (=never).
I did check out Tools, but drive was greyed out.
Am always working in the Ez-Mode.
Nów, after checking the fourm, I know I shd select Write and thén Tools-Drive-Erase.
Allow me to suggest: why not have some tools (like this erase one) available in
the ez-mode as well?

Oops, sorry, that's only when the messagebox is an error box (i.e. one with a red X on it). FYI, the option for it is on the Events tab in the settings.
You want the 'Dont Prompt Image Details' one on the Build tab.

You can configure flashing in the options - but then it applies to all messageboxes that pop up when the app doesn't have focus.
Cud you advise where ?
You can disable the image details prompt in the settings but it's an all or nothing option, you can't just ignore it after an erase.
I cud tag Don't prompt Erase media, format media, overwrite meda, in 'settings/write, 2nd page' but then still there will be this pop-up requiring an OK ?

At times ImgBurn requires a lengthy full erase prior to burning. I usually continue to do something else.
So ImgBurn is on the background. Once it has completed the full erase, there is this pop-up (with information
about the data that is about to be written, like nn files, nn folders, content-type, etc) and I should click OK
so that ImgBurn continues with the writing process.
That pop-up window is behind other windows, so after a while I discovered that I shd still click on the OK button.
Suggestion: have it 'flashing' in the taskbar so users can see that their input is required.
Is it possible to 'skip' this pop-up, so after a full erase, the data will be written without users requiring
to click on "OK".
Maybe I am overlooking that option in settings.

Nero got rid of that program in ver 7 and upwards. There are two nice ones you can use instead and they are both free; Slysofts Virtual Clone drive and DVDFab Virtual Drive. The Daemon programs driver can slow down your verify speed in certain cases so I wouldn't use that one.
Thought this was still in 8 (under XP), yes, it was slow.
Both the ImgBurn Settings & Functions Guides are available in PDF format and thereby searchable.
Shame on me!

Up front: am a newbie here.
I have been using Nero since 2001-2002 (v5) and honestly speaking it never let me down. Starting with v 7 it got too big with all kinds of additional tools I would never use. I did one last upgrade to 8, though, admittedly, I still wonder why. When installing the software I 'disabled' most components, only leaving Burning ROM and "Tools" to be installed. Anyway, it did what it was supposed to do and there was no real need to seek for alternatives.
Recently, I moved to Windows 7 64bit and noticed that I actually had to upgrade to Nero v9. I would have to pay 40 euro, say some usd.55, and obviously the list of components to be disabled got even bigger then before. I donot need all that multimedia stuff. Also I notice there are quite some postings of unhappy users. Unhappy with the performance that is.
So I spent a LOT of time searching for the right tool (=days). Reading lots of reviews and istalled some programs. On many sites ImgBurn was highly recommended.
However, the name of the program puzzled me: a program merely capable of burning iso-like containerfiles??
I want to be able to burn folders and files... So initially, I skipped ImgBurn.
'ImgBurn' popped up again and again, so I gave it a try.
Today I burned a few dvd's (data & video). Whilst still having to explore all the features and options, but already now I can say : as for burning - it definitely is Nero-replacement!!
The layout of ImgBurn is really nice. No 'yelling' big buttons and big fontsize.
Three minor 'cons' from _my_ point of view:
1) it has no virtual CD feature (Nero->Tools). I know this is already 'covered' in another thread, we have to accept the fact that one needs to install Daemon or DVDFab for that, but then again, it requires another install.
2) ImgBurn does not burn 2x DVD5 of a DVD9 (I don't have a DVD9 burner). Nero cud not do that either AFAIK.
This one as well this is already 'covered' in another thread.
3) Though there are a lot of very nice 'Guides' here, I am missing a kind of PDF manual or searchable doc.
Example: goto Settings/Write - check 'Delete Image' check 'Close Program' - a searchable document might tell me the function.
But that aside - ImgBurn is great software!
