I didn't so much miss the "important" bit as skipped over it because i've already uninstalled it and rebooted before even coming here for help lol. I was able to install that software, and will reboot now. Edit: Am now trying to burn after installing the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" software you linked. Ok, so I took a look at the DMA fix method in the faq. Both "ATA Channel 0" and "ATA Channel 1" have DMA enabled.

Chipset is: Intel PM45 (Cantiga-PM) + ICH9M (Base) Controller is: SATA I've read the thread, but I already tried looking for updated firmware, I cant seem to find any. If I have to I will run out and buy a new DVD drive but I wanted to try to get this one working first since it use to work perfectly fine.
