My apologies - I was applying a solution that you made earlier (to an issue that applied to my laptop. and which has worked perfectly!) to my pc - in the mistaken belief that the problem was common to both. I will check the pc later as suggested. Once again thank you for your help. I have now managed to burn a DVD using the pc without having to download further software/drivers. Thanks for your help.

When attempting to upgrade the firmware on my pc I get the following error message " Valid ATAPI device can not be found F/W model is DVD+-RW GT10N" The PC DVD drive is Phillips DVD +-RW DVD 8631 Device Type DVD/CD-ROM drives. Any further help gratefully received. With Thanks

I have tried burning a DVD using a pc with ram of 1gb and again using a laptop with 2gb ram - both times without success. The process of erasing the disk hangs after a few minutes when the process is about 5% through. I have tried updating firmware but in so doing noted that the firmware suggested to me was less current than my existing firmware. I am trying to burn DVD to Sony 4.7gb DVD+RW from video & audio files created vid DVDFlick - the size of the combined files is 3.5gb. I suppose my question is - am I wasting my time unless I have a ram of 4gb or more? Thanks in anticipation

Help! I tried to burn a DVD for the first time using a SONY 4.7gb DVD RW but the laptop appeared to give up after completing only 5% of the process. I killed the process as it seemed to hang at this point.
